Thanks Jeff! My 2 C-Mon razors were sold in NY. One was stamped in Brooklyn (PJ Michels) and the other in Elliotsville, NY. They were imported from Germany and are Solingen steel. Carl Monkhouse (C-Mon) ordered these razors and had them stamped with these locations and also bought the license to use the name, P J Michels. Michels was a designer name like Beau Brommel. In fact, there are Beau Brommel straight razors out there.

That is when there’s a need for a new bevel. Howard Schechter, a contemporary of Lynn Abrams taught this as a pre-finish step. Nickshaves on YT has the video where he demos this technique. My son, Ben, paid for a honing tutorial with Schechter, who used to live up around Boston about 5 yrs ago. It’s a routine pre-finish step that he taught.

Thanks Joe! I ventured outside to take care of things, but I am presently relaxing at home. I have been been doing major cleanup and organizing my place the last couple of days so I am just taking it easy.

There is a name for the technique of removing the foil edge on a stone then redefining the apex. I had Howard hone a couple razors for me and later asked about this practice in the honing thread. It is somewhat common. If I recall correctly stropping with abrasive pastes also remove a foil edge.

I've done it successfully both ways.

    Hello everyone!
Hoping all are fine and well.

Had a few moments and decided to share a this mornings shave.

My Blackhawk V2 paired with a Feather Super Pro blade. My synthetic re-knoted brush whipping up some Lucky Tiger lather, then slothering on some more Lucky Tiger goodness.

A close wonderful shave to say the least, both head and face.

    All
    Enjoy!

    Well......

Straight razor shaving could be as frugal as DE or SE safety razor shaving (possibly even more so) and maybe there are some who might be.....but once one turns the corner on even just a second razor purchase, that savings is out the window. I think it’s a part of why we’re all here, even with all our different razor interests....your last sentence in different thoughts. :eatdrink047:
