I call my bank before I travel now - just to let them know I'll actually be spending money on something other than the bare essentials. Even then, it can be a hassle. I have an intense dislike of banks...

I got a dead truck battery for Christmas. The quintessential lump of cole would have sufficed. Nothing like improvised transportation first thing in the morning. Yee ha!!!

 

Huh.... was taking the dog out, something got her attention, she made a lunge and snap... the leash was flying back at me and she was taking off at a run. Thankfully, she just ran a few laps around me and then sat when I told her to do so. Just spent the last half hour in the snow looking for the missing tags. Well, I guess a trip out to the vet for a new rabies tag is now on my list for tomorrow.

So, I make the call to Harbor Freight...

"Yeah, the lathe came in this morning... I put it back for you, come on in and pick it up."

So I head out to Justfarenoughawaytobeannoyingburg and find the manager guy, and he goes in the back to wheel my lathe up to the front.

While I'm standing around like a heel awaiting my $120 dollar toy, I notice a little booklet of coupons lying on top of a bubblegum machine and I pick it up to flip through it. Hey look! Page 3 has a coupon for my lathe. Wait, I don't see any more of these booklets laying around... must be one of those "members only" booklets, I wonder if I could use it...

So I step up to the register and I'm about to ask the lady if I can use the coupon book when she asks me, "is it in the book?"

"Yes ma'am."

She swipes it from me, scans it, says "That'll be 97.50"

Awesome!

It was a coupon for 89.00!

Got the lathe home---it is awesome!

That's pretty much the same math I did. But still, I'm choosing to focus on the great discount. I'm starting to think their $40 a year membership could be worth it.

 

hmmmm... I dunno but I do expect status updates on that lathe with details on how I can mount and use the lathe inside a small apartment....

So does the membership just get you the discounts like in that booklet, or do you get other things with the membership?
