Sunday’s Shave Gillette Tech (NDC Post War) Gillette Platinum (2) Proraso Red Preshave Omega 11126 Boar Dickinson’s Witch Hazel Proraso Red Shaving Soap Proraso Red Aftershave I’ve been occupied for most of the day so this is just a quick drop in report. I’ll try to catch up later. 3 passes this morning with the Gillette Tech provided a comfy BBS- result and no irritation or mishaps. The skin feels very soft and the awesome Sandalwood scent still lingers. This Proraso Red set was my first complete matching set. After beginning the traditional wet shaving routine, and using up about 95% of my first shave soap (Col Conk Bay Rum), I started looking for something else for a restock. I really loved this way of shaving, but at that point I was still looking at this as a way to save money. I still had one brush and one razor. After using the Proraso Red, I started spending time on the forums. From there the dominoes started falling and I found myself in the rabbit hole and it became a hobby as well.
Nice shave Andrew! Joining the forums was my downfall too. It sure makes the hobby more fun but saving money goes right out the window. And Proraso Green was my first full shave set.
Hah! I know my limitations, Evan! Even though I’m an engineer, I never did well with fabrication. My field was operations research. Lathes are just too far out of my comfort zone, besides I’m always ready for one of your brush creations.
It looks to be in very nice condition. However, I wouldn't have purchased a square point for a first razor because it is hard enough to learn how to shave with a round point as a novice straight shaver. I would mute the point so that you won't stick yourself with it, otherwise you will cut yourself very badly. Good luck with it Myles.
I just saw his post Gary! I told him a square point isn't a good idea for a novice straight shaver to learn. I suggested he mute the point because he will badly cut himself otherwise.
i have a silly question Joe.would one have a choice of straights ie round point etc back when these were new?
