I guess some people don't know what shave ready truly means. However, you have a nice razor and you were able to tweak it, so you won!

 

With all of this talk of honing, I decided to tweak my Elliot razor that I restored to shave ready. I took it to the 3, 1 and .3 micron films. Finally, I took it to the linen, then the Crox and finally the leather. I tested it by seeing if it can cut my single hair strand that is on the top part of my ear. I pick that hair sample because it is long and stands straight up in the air. It is also very fine as well. I did not hold on to this strand. I took one swipe and the razor lopped it right off without a problem. I would say that it finally has a good edge, but I will see when I shave with it. I have worked a lot with this razor on the films. I did bring it so that it shaves, but now with the retweak and the ear hair test, I believe I have it at its best. Granted, it will never be my best shaver, but if it shaves well, then it's all good. Hey, I got this razor for free so I am already ahead of the game

Lol! I try to be creative Jeff! Eyebrow hair is also a good test. If the blade catches the eyebrow hair without pressure that is also a sign you have a nice edge.

just arrived after 4+ weeks from seattle..that's just over 3 hours away from me..it went from seattle wa. to ohio and then kentucky first..then here..not that important but this is a p-2 1970 u.s tech.one of the last ones made in the u.s.most i could find in these last years are travel sets with the stubby ball end handle.found this one with it's original aluminum spiral ball end handle.i believe the last year was 1972?.they were continued to be made in england until the early eighties, with this handle in the late 70s.
