As I continue with my month of mostly ATT S1/S2 shaves I am finding that if I use S2 more than a couple days in a row, I may get razor bumps. So I sub in S1 every third day and I have been very happy with it. I've seen some people call the S2 aggresive, but I don't find it so. A level or two above the S1 plate.
Every once in a while I sub in the very smooth shaving Colonial General. Great face shaver but I just can't' get my head BBS with it. However it's an even shave, and not stripey so OK. This was the 2nd shave with the blade, usually I replace after 3 head/face shaves and an AC blade.

Having said that I got a new RazorRock BBS SS yesterday and I had to try it, with a Gillette SB. .
It was amazing. No blade feel at all, I was sure that it was not shaving much but was surprized after I checked after the first pass and got a perfect glass-smooth BBS in three passes no touchups required. Even my neck. Could not be any more BBS. Perfect.
Anybody prone to irritation like me, but just have to chase that BBS may want to try this.

Mike's Natural Soap (Hungarian Lavender) with bits of Eufros Tierra Humeda in the mix
Alum, Thayers WH, USB & Jeeves of Hudson Street Blood on Steel

Wow! It's great to be home and in my own shave den!

An early morning two-passer on three days of growth, and I'm smooth as silk. I used (mostly) Mike's Natural Soap for a really slick lather. I mixed a few bits of Eufros in the container to finish it up. I've had both soaps for awhile, so the scent has mostly faded. I finished up with JOHS Blood on Steel aftershave and caught pleasant whiffs of it all afternoon.

So that was yesterday's report. I slept in, took a nice relaxing shower, and I'm enjoying my third cup of coffee this morning. I'm giving serious thought to shaving at some point.

We're mostly unpacked and settled. My Bride has a heart doc's appointment this afternoon, and I have a CT scheduled for later this week (just a 1-year follow up). Not much else on the calendar so far. We've had one backyard visit with some friends, and hopefully we'll get to have more of these.

Lovely shaves and reports this morning, gentlemen. I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Well, I've been gone three months, but I see not much has changed. :D

I assume new razors and watches have been acquired?

Actually, as of a few days from now, something WILL change-for the first time since my teen years, I'm going back to horn-rimmed glasses. Thus, from then on out, we cam say "I KINDA look like you".

She goes violin shopping by herself. She buys and sells so if I go I have to keep quiet and pretend she is just an amateur. It’s fun to go but these days she mostly buys just supplies, not so fun.

    G. Wostenholm - Celebrated I-XL
Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements ASB -Star Jelly

Tabac Tuesday! Had this soap back in 2019...ruined it transferring to a wood dish. Oops. Repurchased....as awesome as I remember. Super lather from the new Zenith olive wood. Tabac SS nice flowery aroma and wool fat slick, but a tad dryer than most soaps I use. Added a few drops of glycerin for some face hydration and buffing slickness. If there’s such a thing as a mindless automatic straight razor shave....today was it with this Wosty, that’s at least ~120 years old. Wiped the oil off from storage, some linen and leather laps. 3 full passes, BBS results. Ever just bang through a shave, realize you’re finished, and wonder what happened? That was today’s shave. Quick application of Star Jelly, followed by the awesomeness of Tabac EDC. A wifey favorite, confirmed this morning, before heading out for errands.

If anything...maybe it was the music. Hope everyone has a Terrific Tuesday!

Thanks Joe....y'know, due to a comment from Joseph (@Primotenore ), I am considering changing the order of my shave grades. He believes "Fairly Excellent,", "Bordering On Excellent" and "Rather Excellent" shoud come BEFORE "Excellent". My one-man staff has been discussing this.

SOTD TUESDAY MORNING, AUGUST 25, 2020

Excellent shave today with two of my favorite razors on this beautiful sunny day in the Philly burbs. After a touch up on the Jasper stone, and 30 strops to the Feather FAS carbon steel blade for the VC4, both the CKBA Damascus straight and my Valet VC4 were ready for business. The CKBA Damascus straight razor seemed to almost brush away the slick MWF lather delivering a perfect VBBS above the jawline and a DFS++ below. The freshly stropped Feather FAS carbon steel blade in the Valet VC4 cleaned up the rough spots remaining on my neck and sheared my noggin stubble right down to the skin line opening the bloodless door once again to VBBS land. I feel cool, refreshed, clean and velveteen!

RAZOR: CKBA Koa Wood Scaled Damascus (Mug), Valet Autostrop Model VC4 (Dome)
    BLADE: Feather FAS-10 (Dome)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Rabid Banana Preshave Cube
BRUSH: Alpha Shaving T-400 Tribute w/ 26mm Two Band Badger Ferrule
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat w/ 6 drops of M-Bomb
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH and Osage Rub. Finished with Royall Lyme AS Splash

    Good morning fellas!

    Straight Shave # 197

Wostenholm 15/16 Near Wedge Square Point
    Omega Pro 49 Boar Brush
Elly's Wonder Shop Mysterium Peracelsus SS
    Pinaud Lilac Vegetal

I had a 41 hr stubble so I decided to shave with my only near wedge. After the Mad Max, this is the second widest blade in my den. Everything went well. 2.5 passes and minor touchups gave me a BBS shave without irritation, but a tiny weep that was approx. 4x the size of the period at the end of this sentence. Cold water took care of it and no trace of it was to be found. As I was lathering, I can say that it definitely has a nice, floral, powdery and masculine scent. The ingredients on the box doesn't get specific on the fragrance so my description will suffice. The only aftershave that I have that will complement this soap is the Veg. Liberal amounts of the Veg. ended this fine shave. Have a great day guys! 20200824_161009.jpg 20200824_161009.jpg
