My Gillette American Button Company Old-Type 3-piece is a brutal shaver. It's fully restored and looks gorgeous though. Like you said, these early DE designs seems to allow a very slight blade wiggle-room that could lead to an un-even blade position. I try my best to make it even on both sides when I load a blade. The old-new-stock Gillette Spoiler blades are the best I could pair with this super-efficient/aggressive razor. A smooth blade is needed and people raved over the Spoiler and I have to say it's come the closest to taming the beast.

Razor: Razorock Game changer .84- Mfg 2018>Excellent mid range & very nice with a Kai SS blade combination just to make it what I always wanted from this razor & that is a 2 pass with pickups BBS. Very happy with this combination of razor & blade.
Blade: KAI SS (11)- Excellent blade(still testing longevity), .009 thousand of a inch wider for>blade exposure,
excellent longevity, sharp & smooth, worth the extra money to have a few tucks to give your mild razors a boost if you want that extra blade feel.
Soap: Tabac- Just a excellent soap with great lather qualities- Scent is OK for myself?Rarely get weepers from Tabac!
Brush: Yaqi Rainbow brown whiskers 26mm synthetic- excellent lather maker with nice soft tips for painting lather.
Pre shave: Brush wash my whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on beard area.
Prep: Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups.
Post shave: Razorock XXX with witch hazel + a dollop of Nivea balm.
Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers = [IMG]Excellent shave with my RR GC .84 + KAI SS blade combo.

    Brush: Chinese synthetic travel brush
    Soap: La Toja Manantiales
    Razor: Gillette Tech Ball End
    Blade: Personna Platinum

Gorgeous shave. The lather was the best I've ever got from this soap and the razor-blade combination gives me magnificent close shaves.

they came in plain white dispensers with a sticker noting “10” in black. I got 38 GOOD shaves out of one of those blades. I’d sell my grandchildren for some packs (not really, but you know what I mean..haha).

The most vicious old type I ever owned was a later model 1921 and up no serial Canadian one. I can't think of any American made old types that I've owned that ever came close to that one and I had a few aggressive ones in the past. I do have to add I never owned an ABC Gillette or anything pre 1910 so those may be as aggressive as that Canadian old type.
