I was inspired by Joseph's pineapple description yesterday to pull out the Platinum, a nice Aventus dupe. Excellent lather, excellent scent, excellent closeness on the results. Some neck irritation to be honest, but still a good shave. Another good day with Evan's cool handle as well.
TGIF, my friends. Hope you don't work too late today.
    Have a great day all!

Gorgeous blue photo and cool-shaving razor. That's a New OC head on that razor isn't it?

thank you Jeff, yes ,it's a british new raised flat bottom long comb, made for the french market..:).brit news are quite different than u.s ones.the combs are in between the u.s long comb and u.s short comb in length with a different blade exposure..there are also various cap thicknesses that change the angle of attack..the french versions mostly have thinner caps..

Great shave and gorgeous photo! The lighting is really nice! Evan builds a heck of a brush. I like mine as well.

But I'm sure they still shave better than those TTO abominations that followed them. The twin door closure from an engineering point of view just can't provide the same level of blade rigidity as a New. News are my favorite Gillettes! It's a question of push force (New) vs pull force (TTO).

the new series gillette razors are by far my favorites..in shaves and aesthetics..classic design and function.the 40s brit versions the nicest and most durable in plating finish.earlier prewar versions were silver plated.the brit 2 piece versions are a favorite due to better weight and balance..imo.the u.s long combs have supposed blade chatter issues, though i haven't experienced that. the short combs blade clamping design more uniform and ridged similar to the post war tech.the pre war had said chatter issues.the tto designs were gimmickry to load blades quickly.this is why i am a tech fan as well, though they are milder and not for everyone..no beating the new series my friend, the best mass produced cheap razor made.and they are copied to this day with various designs and modifications/materials..:)..

I just finished taking care of two soap samples I had in theh "upper den" for the longest time. Since I had to use one brush to get each one nice and ready, I'll be down to just 4 brushes for awhile(the other two are in the bowls with the soaps-course I'll get to them soon). The soaps are Just Right for Tuesday(Barrister&Mann, I think), and Cognac&Cuban Cigars(forgot who makes that one). They were PIFed to me a long time ago. I have them in the fridge for now, but will take the bowls out the night before I plan to shave with the contents. I had fun swishing it(them)around to get them set (For the C&C, I forgot to shake off the wetness from the brush..shux).And in fact, I'm getting another sample probably this week-end Malbolge(Phoenix Artisan Acct).

the brit rfb long combs used the u.s long comb's blade clamping design but rounded the top of the base plate giving more blade support closer to the blade edge, resulting in smoother shaves,as well as a better blade exposure..

That is some serious colour matching, Jim! Even the blade pack! I'm not a fan of the Super Thins, do you like them? I'm intrigued by the knot in that brush as well...

The blade must have had too many days on it, Joe. The Polsilver is usually a fine, sharp blade. A nice looking combo regardless.

A great sounding shave, Jeff. Razorock seems to have so many good shavers out there right now. Many folks like the Lupo, and I find the GameChanger Jaws and OC SS Hawk to be quality shavers for sure. I'm thinking of a BBS order in the near future as well.
