    Morning folks..

Doug, looks great! How does it pull?

Well folks, I need to go to work this afternoon and get some grading and other stuff done (new seating charts, water plants, etc...)

Amazing how I forgot all about that undone work over break.. until now.

    Break is over...

    Nice work Doug!

    Morning Pam!

Funny how quickly the breaks/vacations go. Well not really, but you know what I mean.

How 'bout picking my boots up for me while your there?

    J/K.

I am waiting for some new boots from there though. The company is located around Spokane. Whites Boots. The ones I have ordered are the Smokejumpers. Seem to be great boots (of course, for over $400 they better be good boots!!)

White's are AWESOME boots! I've owned two pair now. The first was a hand-me-down from my grandad. Got my own pair of steel-toed smoke jumpers when I was about 20 (1979 or so). I put a lot of backpacking miles on those old dogs, not to mention wearing them to work for many years. I'm about due for a new pair now. 30 years is probably enough wear for one pair of boots.

Give them time to break in and you'll love them! They're kind of spendy, but worth every penny.

Next time around, I'll look at Nick's boots (also made in Spokane). The way I heard it, Nick learned the trade at White's, and then started up his own shop. Some folks like them better than White's.

Yep, sound like some damn good boots to last 30 yrs!

The only reason I need a new pair now is that they're a bit too short. My feet have gotten bigger over the years. The only problem is that I'd never wear them out...

Some of their boots are really cool. They make caulked boots (logger's boots with spiked soles) and various kinds of firefighting boots.

The other must have piece of foot wear: a Peet's Shoe Dryer!

All this talk about boots.. I was just happy to find any boots that fit the other day before all the snow fit.. Its hard to find boots when your feet are almost snow shoes to start with... :D

Tom, I am assuming your trip went well...

It is getting sloppy on the roads out here. Was slipping on the road with traction control going the full time.

Ugh.... Well, so much for fantasy football finals (not TSD league)... All my players were bench warmers today.

Had a nice trip to Spokane and back... We're having 40 degree weather and all the snow has melted. Traffic was light and I made it there and back during daylight hours. Kind of relaxing, actually.

I should have left much earlier and spent some time hunting the antique shops up there. I've found some good stuff the last couple times I've looked. Speaking of which - I've really got to put together a sale of rescued razors one of these days. I must have a dozen or more that I'll just never use that would be good to let go on the cheap.

    Tom,

It is great to hear a testimonial like that from someone on the forums. Thirty years is a very long time for a single pair of boots. Even Red Wings hardly last more than five years anymore.

Well, for those curious enough to wonder about such things, Spoliation Day 2010 went off with relatively few hitches. We each scored a razor, I had my "snake eyes" on (as my wife calls them) and was able to spot a couple of pretty decent deals. Jim picked up an incomplete ball handled tech w/case for, what was it Jim? 1.50? Doug got something... I forget what... and I picked up a Gem Micromatic for 2.75, and it's really clean. Just when we found the motherload, it was time for one member of our troupe to part ways and so we cut short our time at that store we're all sure to go back to. There were old cameras, record players, and razors scattered throughout a building that just kept going and going and going. We even saw Elvis, a Nazi sympathizer (That might explain all the Jeff Gordon memorabilia, now that I think about it), and some magic bunnies, or where they chickens? Bunnykens!

Oh, and the honeyest of all the deals that day-- I found a razor with my name on it.

    Literally.

It was a straight razor hiding under a bunch of crap and the brand name of the razor was my initials.

It says on the razor and case "The MAB Razor"

A steal at 12.00. Really, how often do you get to say, "This razor had my name all over it," and really mean it?* Not to mention the blade is in fairly decent shape.

So ends the wrap-up of Spoliation Day 2010.
