I actually think you'd have a ball with straight razors, Clint. With as much DE/SE experience as you have, I don't think it would be a difficult transition. It would take some practice, though, to get your usual BBS. A few days with a Parker SRX might give you a whole new perspective. It would be easy (and safe) to just shave your cheeks WTG and see what it feels like. If I can do it, I guarantee it would be easy for you. I won't tell Swati. :)

May we all live in such a way to receive this compliment. :)

There's a difference between enjoying life reasonably and taking undue risks. Anyone who has used an open blade knows it can be done safely. With good technique, you may get the occasional paper cut. It's really not a big deal from a safety standpoint. I'm sure you'll know when the time is right to put straights away or simply when to skip a given straight shave (reference @Keithmax rule no. 4, paragraph (a), subpart (iii)). In the meantime, it's gotta be great fun keeping your 19-year-old grandson spinning around in circles with your latest exploits. :D

I admire your 'fight back' attitude, Jeff, and I'm glad you're with us enjoying this great hobby...however you choose to do it.

Thank you, Joe. The razor and brush have been my 'go to' gear all summer. Nothing too fancy, but they get the job done. The Slim is built like a tank. It will probably last several lifetimes.

I hope they work well for you, Paul. I purchased a pile of Dorco multi-blade cartridge razors a few years ago during a big sale. I still use them occasionally for travel and in the shower. They give some really good shaves.

That is true! However, the work on my car didn't need a computer diagnosis. As a non mechanic, I knew what the problems were before I handed the keys to them. Of course, I didn't know the root cause of these problems, but it doesn't matter because the car is fixed. They took me without an appointment because I explained to them that the car was unsafe and I live alone as an elderly man and I need my wheels. Fortunately, I have been a repeat customer for years, otherwise, I would be up a creek without a paddle. Unfortunately, the bill was equal to a Max Sprecher custom razor with all his possible options. I thank God that I had the finances to get it done.

I had my cell phone internet. They had a TV in the waiting area so I was watching CSI reruns as well.

    Thanks Joe.

I'm glad your car has been repaired. In most cases, those expensive repair bills are still better than having to purchase another car. We tend to drive the wheels off our cars. They're not really broken in until they have > 200,000 miles on them. Thankfully, neither my Bride nor I suffer from new car fever. We've only purchased one new car in all the years we've been married.

I have no idea how to work on the new-fangled cars, so we just buy Toyotas. All they need are tires, batteries, and oil changes. I used to do my own oil changes, but that's the extent of my mechanical knowledge. Every time Halley's Comet is visible, I will give my cars a good cleaning. It's due back in 2061.
