    SEptember - Shave #2
    SE Shave #146
    Rating: 5 / 5

Razor: PAA Injector - Type L
    Blade: Persona Injector
    Brush: Jack Skully
    Lather: Williams Mug Soap
Aftershave: Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue
    Additional Care:
Thayer's Witch Hazel - Aloe Vera
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

I decided to go old school this morning. The Williams Mug soap was one of the first soaps I used along with the Old Spice puck when I started my wet shaving journey as a teenage in the mid ‘70’s.

AS a young kid, I marveled at how my paternal grandfather would whip up a nice lather with his boar brush. Being intrigued, I gravitated to this form of shaving.

While attending college, I did not take my wet shaving paraphernalia with. E. I settled for the more modern software and hardware. The software would include Barbersol, Noxema and Edge to name a few. The hardware included the Mach II, Wilkerson Bonded and a few cartridge razors.

In the mid 90’s I gathered my senses and began wet shaving once again. Of course I still had some back modern software to dabble in. Around that time I picked up the Merkur 37c and in 2020 my first straight.

Fast forward to the Fall of 2017 when I came across a few shaving forums on Google + and FB. I manageD to join TSD in the Summer of 2019, however, I did not become active until this past May When Jeff, @jgreenepa, reaches out to me and encouraged my participation in this fine group. Jeff had been aware of my enjoyment of this hobby on another FB site, The Shave Bowl a d ECWS. Thank you Jeff.

I enjoy the genuine sincerity and passion of this group.
Oh yeah I had a nice shave this morning. The Williams did tend to leave my face a little dry but the Stirling balm took care of that issue.

    Thank you very much, Jason!
As far as my brush reference - I bought the brush off a BST. It was indeed a shedder, and ticked me off enough that it got reknotted with a TGN knot. This was quite some time ago, and I still don’t know how I feel about this knot. Some days I kinda like it, other days I don’t.

Looks like you saw my response to Joe, just above your question. Basically, I use any hold that works, and is controllable/comfortable (which builds confidence to put a crazy sharp edge against skin and move it). This applies with any open edge for me. I use both hands. Sometimes I'm using holds that is seen in videos, sometimes I'm holding it like a pocket knife and any grip in between.

For me, it's results matters scenario (that'd I'd happily test with a cotton ball).....rather than how I got there (which also applies to almost everything for me)...manuals? videos? :prrr:

That's an excellent shave Joe, but Williams doesn't do well with our hard water. Are you using distilled water to get the Williams to lather well?

I did not have a problem generating a nice lather. I did forget to add a few drops of glycerin to the bowl. I did not use our wonderful SCWA water.

    Thanks Andrew!

In the most straight forward Japanese to English translation. Kamisori means razor. Diving in a little deeper, the belief is that Kamisoris were the style of a razor that existed before straight razors (with scales and an even grind).

Adding glycerin and not using our water would certainly produce a nice lather, but since you didn't use glycerin and our tap water, then what did you use?
