no, I'm not really sure, to be honest. could've been a shick-zoo puppy, it all happened so suddenly (in bed :happy102), it's hard to tell exactly what critter it was
Any new years resolutions out there? A note a friend of mine posted on facebook gave me an idea, I put together a forum to track resolutions and the like. Feel free to join: http://theothersocialnetwork.com/newyears
Oh man, that was back when Saturday Night Live was hilarious, what a great cast they had! I know it is not PC, but I always laughed whenever I saw this:
The old Bass-O-Matic still brings a laugh for me. Thanks for the tag games Tom, gotta get to bed. Night!
Well, it was a bad day in Annapolis yesterday. I was booming down over the job with a load of aluminum braces when the front right outrigger of the telescopic boom crane actually snapped. That, in turn, caused the whole crane to tip, sending the entire 158' of boom crashing down on the building. Thank God nobody was under it, and there were no injuries. Goes to show that no matter how careful you are, how many times you inspect your machinery, accidents are never 100% preventable. I am okay, a little stiff from getting thrown against the windshield, but that is fine. Could have been much worse. Even the crane itself did not suffer too bad. We will have to replace the outrigger, and put a new lattice in the jib section of the boom. No big deal. Below are some pictures of it all. The first one is a picture I had taken a few days ago, when we first set the crane up. The rest are all post accident. . . .
wow, Jason, glad you're okay, and that no one else was hurt either, that could have been much worse and the "sax and violins" on tv, that hilarious! :happy097
I'm glad you came out of that relatively unscathed, and that noone was hurt. How did the building fare? Oh, and completely unrelated--- New review is up! The Mosquito Coast. This one was a little easier to put a hidden message in.
I found what Dave had to say particularly interesting. He might be on to something. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-dAlugJQE4
eh. I've never been a fan of late night television. That said, Conan's always been able to make me laugh. Not so much with Leno.
OSHA and everyone else was out there yesterday. It was written as an equipment malfunction. Unfortunately, things like this will happen, although they mainly happen with these hydraulic crane. There are just so many things that you cannot visually inspect inside the cylinders and others components. This is a big reason that I like operating the older friction cranes much more. Even though they are more difficult to operate, they are also much less prone to failure.
I'm familiar with the review process, just not cranes. Sounds like a case following the trend of focusing on operational safety while being too relaxed on process safety (designing a system that doesn't fail in catastrophic ways).
Hmmm... my bob ross picture must have moved off the front page of google results for "bob ross picture". I really would have thought the 200 movie challenge would bring in some traffic.
I've never seen this movie, though I vaguely remember you telling me about it, the ice thing stood out. Think I may want to see this now. Also, that must be a Harbor Freight store...
