Welcome to the Bakelite Razors Owners Club, BROC for short. I discussed it with @jimjo1031 and our mutual enjoyment of bakelite razors and he suggested the name. The purpose of this thread is to: Show off your bakelite razors in as many photos as you want. Discuss the different materials used in making non-metalic razors (at least 50% of the head). Discuss the different configurations available. Discuss the different handle preferences. Answer questions of other owners or potential owners. I'll start it off with today's shave. Not a rare one, but very enjoyable ..... a Merkur 45 Weight: 0.5oz ~ 15 grams Length: 3-1/4 in
I really like my Gillette bakelite, but I've steered clear of anything like a Wardonia for fear that the blades would fit.
while not full bakelite it's a close as i will get...simplex military razor and 1946 canadian service tech..
That Simplex is give a nice little shave; I have one of those as well. It's not uncommon for a bakelite razor's head to be 50% metal.
I love those lightweight bakelites. For instance this Mulcuto, the metal version of which inspred the iKon 102. The first DE that gave me a shave as close as a straight.
What an interesting thread! I has no idea there are so many bakelite/similar material razors out there.
