Saturday's Shave #SEptember Ever Ready 1924 Shovelhead GEM S/S PTFE (5) CSB Faux Horn Badger Dominica Bay Rum Shaving Soap Dickinson's Witch Hazel Grand Bay, Bay Rum Aftershave I really want to like this soap. The scent is fantastic and the slickness is decent - it's just missing the lather. Today was the third time I've used this soap and I've used 3 different brushes with it (2 boars and a badger). All had the same result. After face lathering, the lather does the disappearing act almost as soon as I put the brush down to pick up the razor. I was going to rub the puck onto my face today to see if that would make a difference, but the puck was securely cemented to the bottom of the dish and I was just ready to start the shave. I will work on breaking it free later today. If I can't get the puck to eventually work correctly, it will make a nice bath soap... Even with the poor lather, I still had a comfortable 3 pass shave. The Ever Ready 1924 has a good bit of blade feel, but I finished the shave with no cuts or irritation.
Thanks for asking Myles! I am doing well. Covid-19 never touched me. NY was finally allowed to have gyms open on Aug 24. I have gone 14x. There were 2 days that I went twice because I am able to check out other gyms for free since I am a member of SilverSneakers. SilverSneakers is a benefit within some Medicare Advantage or Medigap programs for seniors 65 and over. Hope all is well with you!
Sorry the soap isn't working out for you, Andrew. Hopefully you get it dialed in soon. Bay Rum scents are a favorite of mine. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Great shave despite the less than stellar soap, Andrew! The Williams Mug disappearing act with your soap is definitely a letdown.
Thank you, Joe! It does remind me of some of my early lathers from modern Williams but this soap is just part ninja so far.
Love the scent of Dominica Bay Rum. I’ve heard the soap is difficult to lather at best. I hope you have a wonderful Saturday Andrew. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thank you, Clint! If it ends up being a bath soap, it's not a big loss. The weather is great today, so I hope you have a good one too.
Just depends on what one is looking for. Yes, retail prices on a good number of items. Shave Nation’s stock is generally the more traditional brands, but also some that are very tough to find. Whereas some items are listed on competitors sites, rarely ever in stock. And a few of those price leaders have done away with free shipping threshold, so many times it evens out.
