Well, I see I missed some fart humour. Thank goodness.

First of all, Jim, I'm glad you said something about unplugging the lathe, I forgot to do that today.

Second of all, did you get a chance to look more closely at the Shakespeare in Love review? Tell me you finally spotted the ridiculously blatant editing.

    Note to self...

Wear a mask when turning wood. Especially cedar.

Made the missus a cedar snowman today, put a light coat of wax, followed by a couple of coats of superglue. Turned out pretty nice. I think I've figured out the secret to superglue finish. Use the thin, liquidy stuff, not the gel glue.

I think I'm finally figuring out how to keep my gouges sharp without a grinding wheel!

Aside from learning that cedar turns into powder on the lathe (and in your nose, lungs, etc.) I also figured out a great way to keep shavings from getting all inside my shirt... I couldn't afford a nice lathe apron, but I figured out that all I have to do is put my shirt on backward. Worked perfectly!

Day was great! Got to spend the day with the girlfriend, eat some great lunch where they did Paella with seafood and saw a great movie. :D

Note to Micah: Cedar is the least of your worries

man, I've got to get all my crap done so I can plug in my lathe! oh, self-discipline sucks sometimes!

well, I say that, but here I sit eating powdered donuts....

Well, considering it's over 8 hours since I turned on the lathe, and I'm still smelling/tasting cedar... :ashamed001

no one wants to hear about you smelling your wood....:happy097
(hey, at least cedar smells good!)

I can't remember which wood it was, probably cocobolo, maybe the pink ivory, but one of the ones I have to wear long sleeves for, it makes my arms itch. probably going to need to invest in a turning apron and a dedicated long sleeve shirt for turning...and a face shield.
