Question re blades. A lil help please.
Because I buy a lot of blades at once of any type, 100-200, even though I've been wet shaving for years, I've not tried a lot of blades. Rockewell, Astra, GSB and Persona Blue US.
I am almost out, never saw that coming. My favourite has been GSB, then Persona, then Astra then Rockwell but I've been reading that lately GSB is not the same.
I've tried Feather and they are rough on me. Luckily just a sample.

What would be similar to GSB of old in terms of sharpness/smoothness ratio. A bit sharper OK, but not Feather sharp.

I am thinking Bic Chrome Platinum (thanks to user above matthewoli98 who wrote of these) for my smooth feeling RR BBS and Voskhod for my Rex and other razors.

Cremo is OK. I prefer using a brush, I did not realize this is lotion style. Oh well, into the travel bag and one to give away.

    Razor: Ever-Ready Shovel Head
    Blade: GEM Stainless
    Brush: The Chalk Monster
    SS: Arko
    AS: Tabac

I can't remember if I have shaved with this Shovel Head before. It came in the lot that included my Cooper Monobilt. That lot was a real score filled with unique razors.

Figured I would upset as many people as possible with the Arko and Tabac combo but then I realized people seem to love or hate them both more like a force multiplier. Maybe @jtspartan will chime in.

The shave was good but I did nick my chin near the same spot again. All 3 GEM bladed razors I have used seem to grab a little on my chin. Its quite strange. It also could be slighly swollen and all I have used are GEM blades. I'll pay close attention to it tomorrow. I'll call this shave DFS.

    Friedr.Herder 'Constant'
    Alum

Loving the ZM shave soap recently......20 seconds of loading the Shavemac (medium damp after soaking), then move to the shave bowl. 4-5 drops of water in it....very thick and fun slick lather created. I'm gonna have to do a @Primotenore lather shot soon to give it justice. A NOS Friedr.Herder 'Constant' straight today, labeled as unhoned, still has the factory edge on it. Just to test....I gave it a round on the pasted strops, then linen and leather. Not a bad shave today, a slight bit tuggy, but was able to muscle through 2.5 passes. The front of the blade was shaving nice and smooth, but the middle to heel was lacking. It'll see a light touch up before using again. DFS results, 2 small issues, quick alum rub and all was good. Some ZM after shave balm followed by 'The Wanderer' matching recovery splash (no alcohol), and ready for a Mon....uh, Tuesday.

Hope everyone has a terrific Day!

Well, only one try, and it was my Colonial General, which is not a great head shaver for me. Will try it with one of my go-to's, Rex or RR BBS(new!) to give it a fair shake.

Thank you Joe. I wouldn’t give the RM that much. I just don’t hate it anymore. I just want it out of here as fast as possible.

SOTD TUESDAY MORNING, SEPTEMBER 8, 2020

Another beautiful day here in the western suburbs of Philadelphia, enhanced even more by a truly epic (copyright @Keithmax) shave of both mug and noggin. I’m particularly proud of the mirror edge I’ve managed on the CKBA Damascus with the help of this magical jasper stone with support from a sprayed felt strop coated with .25 micron DMT diamond spray thanks to coaching from my son. The shiny, buttery smooth edge is clearly visible in the early morning sunlight. All I’ll say is that my three pass (WTG, ATG, XTG) mug shave was velveteen smooth and surprisingly comfortable. The unbelievably slick Prince shave cream certainly helped.

And then it was my noggin’s turn! For today’s shave I grabbed my vintage Ronson razor, and loaded it with a Schick Twinjector blade. The Rooney Badger whipped up a lovely, slick, yogurty Nancy Boy lather dome carpet. The loading process is always a bit fiddly with this razor, but the result is always well worth it. The razor is one hefty little package weighing in at 198.4 grams most of which is concentrated in the head. Shaving with it is always a pleasure as the weight does all the work which just works beautifully for shaky old me. One and 1/2 passes saw me happily arriving in VBBS land. The result was an epic velveteen shave to compliment this beautiful day.

RAZOR: CKBA Damascus 6/8 Koa Wood Scales (Mug), Ronson Safety Razor (Dome)
    BLADE: Schick Twinjector (Dome)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by Argan Oil
    BRUSH: Rooney Ebony Pure Badger
CREAM: Prince (Mug), Nancy Boy (Dome)
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with Glyce Glycerin soap followed by Humphreys Lilac WH and Osage Rub. Finished with Pre de Provence Balm.

Had a very nice shave this morning. The V3 Hawk took care of 72 hours without incident. This is a quality shaver, no question. I need to change the blade next time, though. I'm still a solid 'meh' on this knot. It is softing up finally and I really like the feel of the handle, but it dropped another hair and doesn't seem to want to give up the lather on the face overly well. SWMBO told me last time I used this scent that it was kind of "perfumy". I know it is based on a unisex scent, but I never found it overtly so. Apparently she does, so I paired it with GLSq. I find the scent pleasant and at least it didn't get the 'Gentleman' treatment...

I went out to the lake Saturday as it is was a long weekend here in BC. Had a long day at work Friday, so we didn't go until Saturday. I had a quick 2 passer before we left. The MMOC is a fine shaver. The scent is pleasant enough, but isn't memorable to me and I'm glad to just have it in sample sizes.
