Thanks Joe! I keep the glasses on for the IQ points reflection gain (about 20 I figure). Come to think of it....I should start wearing my watch for extra credit. ;)

Very nice Evan. Nice results! The MM looks super. Is that some of your plating? I may have missed the comments in the past if so.

:), yes I do. These guys(Doc Squatch)are based way out in California-interesting that they were able to speed up the delivery.

I'd say I'm pretty well set for "manly" hand-soaps for the next, ahh....couple months maybe:

-Still some Block Island Soap to go(artisan Lavander)
-2 Man Hands soaps(Cut&Shave and Sweet Cigar)
    -Doc Squatch(Pine Tar)*

*I might try this as a bodywash too(they show you how it's common to use loofas, which I have).

Very nice shave Blair. I have been looking to get a Sandalwood soap. I just can’t decide on which artisan. Also, waiting to reduce the den a little

You are definitely becoming well adept at the straight shaves my friend. I am sure you are continuing to gain confidence.

I had a Sandalwood from Wet Shaving Products. Was pretty good. Might recommend Sir Hare&Co, too(ALPHA-tobacco and sandalwood).

Sounds interesting. I must admit that the staining could be a corner for the lighter colored knots such as a boar.

Thanks, Joe! Believe it or not I have been straight shaving daily for about the last 5 months. So I guess I must be past the 100 shave threshold. But what really has me charged up are the edges I’m getting.

I was referring to PAA's after shave/cologne (mistyped the knot addition). The liquid absolutely will stain a fabric. I just make sure dry down is finished before a shirt is put on.

The CK-6 shave soap is a light tan. Lathers into barely off white. I don’t think the shaving soap would be a problem with most (or really any) boar knots.

As for choosing a sandalwood....samples. WSP, PAA and Stirling do them. A couple of the vendors also split containers into smaller ones for the artisans that don’t do samples. Honestly, I've been pleased with just about any Sandalwood. PAA's SSS, Stirling's Vanilla Sandalwood, Art of Shaving, Proraso Red, ToBS Sandalwood, Geo F. Trumper, Truefitt & Hill (previous two are lighter versions of ToBS to my nose).

About the only one I’ve run into that was too much for my snozzle....was WSP's. It’s like walking into a saw mill while every blade in the factory is cutting (Sandalwood!), and there’s a heavy dust of it lingering in the air making it difficult to see.....and you inhale. Some rave about WSP's version being very true to sniffing the real wood though!

I've seen Clint (and I'm forgetting the others, Perry and Jim maybe) enjoy the Fine brand's Santal Absolut. It's on my list for a sample. Joseph loves the AoS Sandalwood I think (but it may be before the reformulation), mine isn't, and I still like it.

Anyone else want to chime in on other Sandalwood versions/artisans/brands for Joe?

Fine Santal Absolut is a fantastic Sandalwood. So is Supreme Sandalwood Science. I also enjoy Proraso Red. I'm with you on WSP's Sandalwood and along the same lines is a discontinued PAA Sandalwood. Straight Sandalwood. Too much for my tastes.

that lost package from fedex randomly re appeared today. I really enjoy this tobacco leaf soap scent from taylor of old bond street, Ya'll really need to get your hands on a tub of it, It is absolutely spectacular, I may pick up a few more tubs in case it ever discontinued! I'll be breaking this one out in the winter and fall. Most people say the scent strength is very mild, to my nose I find it to be quite strong, (which I enjoy) but it may vary person to person depending on how sensitive your sense of smell is.
