DE SOTD, Fri, Sept 11th 2020 Razor: Gillette Fatboy E4 - Mfg 1959, 4th qtr, I like this razor and its my birth yr, feels good in my hands. Blade: Voskhod (3) Smooth blade and performs great in my slant razors also. Soap: Razorock Lavender- great scent and excellent lather qualities. Brush: Razorock Noir 400 black whiskers- feels like my boar brush but has those soft tips for painting. Pre shave: Brush wash my whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser + a dollop of clear Aloe Vera gel on beard area. Prep: cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. Post shave: Razorock King Louis lavender + a small dollop of Nivea balm. Results: CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers = Great shave with my Gillette Fatboy. Have some great shaves! When Gillette England ran out of the blue cases they used brown for the remaining inventory, IMO. They used all their inventory to create sets, hence the variety of sets that were available. Nothing went to waist, ha. Later they switched to the green cases for the #53 set
I think the paperwork clearly shows it. Whether it was sold in Australia or not...this is how Gillette called it. Even the "windowed" blade banks are unique for the set - unlike the NEW #77 set, which evidently gives the name # due to the same case used. Remember that the set # came based on the case and not on the razor inside. There are so many instances that prove that. That's why we have Aristocrat #15 originally with 1st, 2nd and 3rd gen Aristocrat razor.
