I have it mastered. I picked it for the challenge because I needed to use it more and experiment with different stroke methods like scything, etc.

On smaller straights I use one hand to do a fool's pass, but with Mad Max I need to be a 2 hander. Also, I have seen some people use 2 hands to straight shave the neck and that's fine for them.

I started out with four-pass shaves. As I was learning, my shaves weren't great, and my skin was routinely irritated. I can sneak a three- and maybe a four-passer in occasionally, but not every day. Of all the YouTube shavers, Mantic59 helped me the most. From him, I learned to (1) take my time for face prep and to build a good lather, (2) what a good lather looks like, (3) not to shave over un-lathered areas, (4) to take short, slightly overlapping strokes, and (5) that cheap gears works as good as the fancy stuff. I also learned how to blade buff and J-hook, which I sometimes do. I have another YouTube shaver (I've posted his video here several times) that helped me learn the importance of skin stretching. All this, combined with my 30 DC life sentence, has helped me come up with a pretty-solid daily two-pass routine that I can accomplish with a reasonable amount of time and effort and with any properly working shave gear.

I like some other YouTube shavers vids for the conversation and to see an occasional new piece of gear. I try to learn from them also because most everyone has something to share. Paul H., in particular, will use some extensive side-ways strokes across his chin to get it smooth. I sometimes do my own variation of this maneuver. And Geofatboy has helped me as I've been using my shavettes. He gears down and shaves much more intentionally with a shavette or straight.

But wait, there's more. I recently learned from @jgreenepa and @brit not to invest in a vintage Jaguar, and I learned from @MrEE that I should place my "make up brush" orders via the ladies at the Bunko Club if I expect priority shipping.

The HOA Board is fortunate to have you, Clint. When it comes to HOA matters, boring is good. I did a two-month stint on a fledgling HOA when I retired. It was often controversial and dramatized for no good reason, but never boring. I finally decided I didn't want to spend my precious time and energy on stuff like that. My Bride asked me to resign (she saw what it was doing to me, and she is smarter than I am), and we both felt better after I did. We just paid our dues and never attended an HOA meeting after that, either.

    Great shave, Joe!
Congrats on the new soap. Sounds like you think you got the best the soap has to offer after only one use?
    Thanks, Andrew!
Yes, there is enough pressure put on the razor I'm sure it's stretching the skin some.

I agree Mantic59 has lots of good information, especially for new wet shavers.
Is the Bunko Club a franchise? Just wondering if they have regional locations to make brush orders...

Thanks Gary! I had 10, now 9 and soon to be 8 Stirling soaps! The Zaharoff signature is a nice soap with a very fine scent. Hopefully, I will enjoy it much more when my sinusitis clears up.
