1. Pictures are out of order. I tried getting a good shot of alignment. To no avail. The blade does have even exposure.
  2. Unfortunately as it goes sometimes with wedge blades. These 3 looked salvageable. Not to be. I might be able to save 1 with a boatload of work. There is extreme pitting making it impossible to get a clean bevel.

I always figure the blades are trash when bidding. That way I am not disappointed when blades are trash. If they are good even 1 bonus.

Good thing I have a few good wedge blades in the wings.
  3. I just crimp the blade holders tabs on each side to hold the blade. Most wedge razors will accept this type of blade.
Always be careful, if you break the tabs you ruin the razor.

  4. You are a brave man. I suppose that will work if you only plan on using Gem style blades.

I prefer Wedges myself. I am lucky that I taught myself how to hone.

  5. I like gem blades and most can't or won't be able to hone a blade sharp enough to do a good job.
The only thing to be careful of is the points on the edges. If you don't get it right it can scratch you.
But I shave with these a lot and get great results.

    Good luck!

  7. They were designed for Kampfe razors.
The three stars are there for a reason :)

  13. From the seller's description:
"It is important to note that these are not my designs and I do not yet have one of the razors to test them. I only agreed to add these to my shop after multiple requests.

There are 2 versions of adapters out to get a Gem style blade with the spine removed to fit into old school razors that use the old wedge blades.
When you order this listing you will get two of each type."
  14. Nice work Tom.
  15. Just to clarify: The ones with the stars are my design and I published them under a "Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike" license.
So strictly speaking the seller needs to credit me for the design and link to the license. Which he doesn't. I'm not sure if I'm bothered or not.
Other than that I have no issue with the seller selling them. I don't want to and the license allows for that.
If people can use their wedge blade razors because of a piece of plastic I designed... fantastic!
If I don't have to buy a 3D printer and start a company selling them for that to happen... even better.

P.S.: I have contacted the seller as I want people to know that the files are freely available (and get credit - why not)

  18. Had some free time today. So I started designing a razor to hold Rolls blades. I took the design inspiration from a razor I saw on EBay last night. It is a Fox razor. I spent a few minutes and found the patent. Very clever adjustments. I will see how much I can get done this week.

By the way, did anybody here win that Fox? It is an awesome looking razor. Out of my price league unfortunately.
