Tobacco smoke of any kind reeks. I can't imagine a shaving product smelling like an ashtray. Yuck!

Lol! Blair has an 11/8 straight which is bigger than Mad Max. To be honest, it's all about the edge. The difference of shaving with extra large straight razors is the maneuverability and be mindful of the spine width to get the correct angle.

I don't think I'd like to get into an argument with the bottom one(is that the Manatee?). And yes, I'm one of those concerned for those fellas.

Originally, it was thought that it was a safety measure for the barber to be able to grab the razor from his pocket without worrying about cutting himself. Most shavers view it as an aesthetic design and nothing more. I happen to use it while doing an ATG pass (fool's pass) on my mustache. Putting my finger inside the hook helps stabilize the blade when I perform the fool's pass.

Very fun read Bruce! Great setup with the Blackland Sabre.

That's the ticket Jeff! 2 passes with the DX and done....when you doing a video?

Such a cool combo Gary! Love that Master Coupe!

Very nice, Blair. I think that Heritage has done a fantastic job in picking some of the iconic handles to recreate. The C-Mon was awesome, this Ever Ready is underrated for sure. The Dubl Duck is just amazing. I think they need a Rubberset 200 next...

Fool's pass, eh? It's the ATG I keep cutting myself when I try the Shavette. Is that usually passed on with straights and shavettes?

It truly depends on the beard, and the experience and skill of the shaver. Most shavers will do two passes WTG or WTG and then XTG. I wouldn't suggest doing the fool's pass as a newbie. With a shavette/straight razor, you need to place 2 hands on the ends of the blade to do the fool's pass to minimize the blood exuding from your face.
