Good evening, gents! I haven't been active here for a while (had to take care of my grandmother, she had cancer) but i'll try to start posting more often again.

Today i had just a quick, simple shave. One pass + touch ups, CCS was good enough for me.

I hope you all have a great day!

That's a good question, Joseph. I'm not a bay rum connoisseur. There was a note in the B&M soap that I really didn't like and that I cannot identify. I passed the soap along to a gent here, and if I'm not mistaken, he passed it along too. It became a proverbial shaving fruitcake.

Here's the scent description from the website: Dispensing with the modern custom of using large amounts of clove, we instead blend real black strap rum with West Indie bay, sweet orange, cinnamon, and benzoin (a vanilla-like resin).

However, I enjoy using Captain's Choice BR aftershave. If I pay close attention to the scent, I will get a whiff of that note that I don't like. However, it is not overbearing as with the B&M scent.

Again, here's the website description: The wonderful bay scent predominates with hints of cinnamon and citrus.

I'd try another Bay Rum aftershave, but I'm a bit perplexed as to which one. If it's anything like the B&M scent, I wouldn't use it. I'm open to suggestions.

And I have nothing against B&M products. Many folks appear to enjoy them for their performance and scent complexity. I've only tried the BR soap, and it wasn't for me.

Thanks Gary! Synthetic brushes are great for newbies because they produce nice, easy, and creamy lathers. I find that natural shave brushes are more difficult to use and they make lathers that are different.
