If you’ve never seen the outer band of an approaching tropical storm, quite impressive sometimes. About 25 miles inland of the Texas coast.

    Perfect blue sky behind me...

Good morning 30DC crew, that's everyone.
Received a new tool in the mail yesterday and thought it might be good form to let you in on what I think of it.
It's a YAQI Katana SE razor that takes 1/2 DE blades.
    20200920_091034(0).jpg
I used some Razorock soap for the fact I can't remember the last time I swirled a brush in this puck. I used Bay Rum for the last week trying out the Wabbit pass around.
I got great lather as always and the scent isn't bad.
The brush is a red headed step child of sorts to say the least.
The handle is from the Dollar Tree that had a terrible knot in it.
I simply pulled out the knot out, then epoxied a Maggered $6.00 synthetic knot in. Not bad for a $7.00 brush.
It works great, If you like lite brushes, I didn't add any weight.

Now the razor, loading it is easy enough.
After breaking a blade in half I just sat it on the top cap and set the bottom plate on top of that. Twisting the handle on and it was ready to use.
It has small protrusion to align the blade and keep it correctly set.
The razor has a 6-7 out of 10 rating of aggression on the Yaqi web site, but with a Feather blade it is probably a 7-8.
I feel it might be a tad more efficient than given credit for.
I noticed it responds well when ridding the cap.
It seems to respond well when you adjust the angle of the handle.
I was able to smooth out the blade and still get good cutting action.
Cleaning between strokes was easy and quick.
For those of you who like a heavier than normal razor, this one surprised me when I first picked it up.
    It's heavier than it looks.
Removing the blade was simple, it just fell out after I removed the handle and separated the cap and plate.
For those who care, the shine is good on both and seems to be quality coated.
All in all I like it, it's gonna be used here now and again or as they say, it will be in the rotation.
I'm glad I bought two, just in case I damage one or loan it out.

I was able to get a full shave head and face with one half blade. Although the end was getting a tad weak.
A nice smooth 3 pass with only one weeper on the neck just right of the Adams apple. It was very small and required no attention to stop it's leaking.
Being on blood thinners that means it's nothing at all.

Well that's my two cents worth.
Hope everyone is doing great and getting great shaves.
    Till next time....
    Enjoy!

I will...thanks Gary. Tomorrow-more soap and less pressure around the area should improve things.

Wonderful shave, photo, and write up, Jeff. It's really cool to see how much you've progressed with straight razors, both in edge maintenance and in your shaves. I am inspired by how you find ways to overcome your physical challenges. He thought he could do, so he did. Right?

How do you like the Alt-Innsbruck? It's one of my favorite overall aftershaves. I'm on the wait list at West Coast Shaving to pick up a bottle or three when it is restocked.

    Keep well, my friend!

Voshkhod blades give great shaves and yours is no exception, Daniel. Ming Shi's are pedestrian razors at best. They are equivalent to Van Der Hagen razors.
