    Nice one, Bruce!

    Excellent shave, Charlie.

I still haven't used my SRX more than a few times. Maybe some day..

You should get one of the old Fiat 500's. ;)

Thanks Charlie! You guys make this brush making thing fun!

As for being oncall, thankfully this was nothing that bad. 6 years ago someone put a "max date" time stamp in their code thinking there would be no way that code would still be used in September 2020.

    Well, guess what.

So every time that specific code would run we'd end up with some strange failures. Not bad enough to pull the fire alarm but bad enough to wake me up. I was woken up several times in the night and at 4 AM I decided to stop messing around and fix it. Thankfully all we need is an internet connection, so no mad rush to the office.

Partially agreed, Charlie. It's hard to beat a Keurig for convenience. Taste, on the other hand, is just "ok". Most of the coffees we've tried taste about the same, give or take. There is some difference from one to the other.
We also have a commercial Bunn brewer, which we used for years, until my wife decided to go with K-cup machines. We had a Cuisinart for awhile, until it gave up the ghost. Then we got a Keurig brand machine, and it's still ticking.
Some of the best coffee we've made is when we used to go camping. We have a percolator that we'd take with us. It makes some darn tasty, strong coffee. I really should go out to the shed and bring it in to use on occasion.
I've toyed with the notion of pour-overs (Chemex, etc.), but I know what will happen. The added steps of getting morning joe will become a nuisance, and it'd become yet another dust collector in the crib.
What I need to do is hit the Powerball (which I don't play), so I can afford to have staff on hand so coffee will be made upon waking. And cut up fruit. Yeah, that's the ticket. :D

Understandable. It's much less expensive. Less dangerous too. Unless you get a Mad Max and another bottle of Clubman. ;)

I have a hunch you'll find it to be even more intuitive. Don't try and prove me wrong. :happy102:
Interesting (and fun) story about the Williams and the sketchy brush. Did you have JR re-knot it for you, or does he have it now?

The secret to Williams is there isn't one. Whatever you do, don't watch YouTube videos on how to lather Williams (unless you watch Fuzzy's videos). So many folks perform witchcraft with Williams, and it's not necessary. You really don't need to bloom it, then bowl lather with 1/2 cup of water. Just treat it like any other soap, and it works fine. It might not generate huge amounts of lather like most of the artisan soaps do, but it'll be good n' slick.
Williams certainly isn't my favorite soap, but it does its job, and does it well. It's fun to break it out for the occasional shave.

It's Omega ref: 3570.50.00 with the Cal. 1861 movement. I had this one for about 8 years.

What reference is your Dad's Speedy? How about a wrist shot? :)

You did answer your ?, but I am going to elaborate. Art of Shaving is a name brand that sells soaps and other shaving paraphernalia. They have retail and online stores. Maestro has their Lavender Shave soap.

Little did I know we had our very own coffee snob among us, Bruce. :D

I would like to have a percolator! Every time I remember having percolator coffee, it has been great. The last time I mentioned it to the boss, she gave me a thumbs down. I haven't suggested it for awhile... :signs002:

While the Bonavita is a pour over, it operates much like a Mr. Coffee. It gets high marks for heating the water to the proper temp and distributing it over the grounds properly. We load the pot the night before. I get up, switch it on (no fancy timer), and I have a pot in about six minutes. It's a small pot (8 cups or 4 hillbilly mugs), and it is insulated.

This is a newer version of the one we have:

    Highly recommend.

I'm here whenever you make your decision. :happy097:

If it's good enough for an upscale gent such as yourself, it's just fine for a boring schmuck like myself.

Nooo...I'm not a coffee snob. Not even a connoisseur. I just like a decent cup of coffee. Or three.
I don't know what it is about percolator coffee...but it's just darn good. I'm sure the true coffee snobs would turn their noses up at the thought of percolator coffee. They're cheap to buy and easy to use. Go ahead and get one...it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission. ;)
I did check out the Bonavita, and it seems like a very good machine. If we didn't already have two machines eating up counter space....
Now, you'd also make the purists cringe leaving ground coffee in the machine overnight.
Oh, no...you MUST grind it immediately before brewing. And weigh it out on a scale. Unlike shaving soaps, you absolutely must bloom your grounds, while timing the initial pour. Then, after a pre-designated time (I can't remember how long), you begin your final pour, also timing the process. Naturally, you do all this while the pot is on the scale. Yes...people really do this ritual. Check it out on YouTube if you get bored enough. Of course, the coffee peeps would probably laugh at our shaving rituals....

    Since you're here....
We used to go to brunch occasionally at the William Penn Inn, when we lived in Eastern PA. They have delicious coffee. I asked what kind they use, figuring they wouldn't tell me. They use Folgers. As I guessed, it's not the same Folgers on supermarket shelves. It's a different "blend (maybe)" for the foodservice industry. I found some online, ordered it, and brewed it in the Bunn. It tasted close to theirs, but was lacking something. I never figured out what that something was. It could be the difference in brewing equipment. Or, coffee to water ratio (which I did experiment with). You'd think with only two ingredients, coffee grounds and water, it shouldn't be science. Yet, it is. Who'da thunk?

Thanks for the suggestion, Joe - however I'm not much of a menthol head. A little here and there is ok. Sometimes I'll use C.O. Bigelow (Proraso), and have Electric Sheep Glacial AS, both of which are fine on occasion. Maybe my tune will change over time...
