The lather certainly has an airy quality in my opinion. But I've found that it turns into wonderful soap while face lathering.

Bruce, it looks like we're not the first pigs to the trough, so to speak, on the bacon fragrance.

Thank you, Perry! I have you to thank for starting my Fat Friday tradition.
I think this Featherweight is Deluxe model? It shaves the same as the nickel colored ones I have.

I will keep trying to conquer the MWF...it's a side mission but I'm not too worried about it. I've tried soaking the puck too, when I bought it (I read an old thread about hydrating the new pucks).

I also grate my pucks into the ceramic dish so it fits better. Don't know if that plays into the lathering or not.

I know you are a fan of the PAA Cube pre-shave. Are you getting great MWF lathers without using the Cube?

I think it may. I'll try that on my next new puck. Maybe.

HAPPY FRIDAY, this week seemed to fly by quick and we are almost through September already!? Breaking in this crazy old puck isn't too hard, but we are getting there.

very cool..good luck..:)..it is really as good as folks say once it's dailed.after using my puck for a week straight it was a lot better.some folks soak the puck overnight before first use to help season it..

    Hmmmm...
    Ok...load HEAVY then. :D
Not to dispute Perry (we all have our own preferred methods), but I never bloom the puck. I start out with a damp brush and load for about 30-45 seconds. When face lathering, I keep adding water, just a little at a time. It *should* to only get very slick, but gain a fair amount of volume. Once you get a nice sheen to the lather you're there. If you find that it's drying out on you during the shave, you can always add more water. Each soap behaves a little differently. Once you become familiar with a particular soap, you'll begin to figure out how much to load, and how much water it needs.
I treat all soaps the same, but adjust the loading time and amount of water as I see fit.
