I don't perceive the Fatip as being particularly aggressive, but keep in mind I also shave with straight razors.

Thank you, Joe. I would have to say Yardley Black Label, but I guess it would depend on what year something becomes "vintage".

    Foúgere Friday

    Good morning!

Wonderful shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Silent alum.

I did a quick short-lived steep angle experiment this morning with the Start. For me it is definitely a shallow angle razor. Go steep and this smooth easy razor gets very harsh and tuggy. It was worth a try.

    Happy Friday my friends! [IMG]

You're spot on about continuing to use the MWF and it getting better. I never grated my puck, and never had an issue with it right out of the box. MWF is a soap that doesn't like to sit idle. The crock doesn't seal airtight, and it will dry out over time. It's kind of a non-issue - it'll still lather ok even if it does, yet continued use does make it easier to load and lather. You'll find it doesn't require nearly as much water while lathering when the puck is already well hydrated, and there will be much less of the "bubbly" texture. It'll get thick and creamy much, much faster.
And, fabulous SOTD photo you posted!

My favourites for head shave is currently (and likely to stay) the Razorock BBS, then the Rex Ambassador going 2.5/1.25/.75 and then closely the ATT S1, then the ATT S2 which shaves closer than S1 but less comfort more issues.

I seem to recall my Rockwell 6c at 4/2 was very good, but I gave that away a while back so cant directly compare.

Regardless of where it's made it is a great razor. American made would be a plus for me though.

    Fat Friday

    Razor: 1906 Gillette Single Ring
    Blade: Rapira Swedish Steel (2)
Brush: Aluminum w/ 26mm Badger Boar Hybrid
    SS: MWF
    AS: Proraso Green

I had to get a shave in with the oldest razor in my collection. This single ring has no crack and still has the original silver plating. The previous owner used a chemical silver polish which is a little sad, but it meant I got it a lot cheaper. I bounce back and forth on patching the few thin spots in the plating. Its 114 years old perhaps I should let it show that age. I only use it 2 or 3 times a year.

It shaves a lot like an OT which means it demands some respect. I managed an easy DFS in 2 passes with no blood or irritation.

As usual the hybrid knot made quick work of triple milled soap. The MWF lathered up nicely. What can I say about Proraso green? Great per the norm.

    Happy Friday everyone!

Sadly, it is. I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that it won't be returning. I have noticed recently that they re-posted an Instagram photo featuring Flying Hide, and there were several comments begging for its return. I hope that, if there is enough interest - and, if they can still get the fragrance ingredient(s), maybe it'll return sometime.

"Lonestar" is a very nice scent profile, and I'd seriously consider that one. There are others that sound good - and some that don't appeal to me. Nonetheless, it's an excellent soap base, and quite worthy of holding a place in anyone's den.

I agree with you, Danny. Time will tell if they fail or flourish. In the past, folks didn't seem to have an issue with their pricing, largely because the razors were fully made in the US. For about the same, or maybe a little more, I'd rather go with Blackland or Timeless. Yates Precision is a newer razor to the market, and seem to be coming on strong. Also fully made in the US.
