no, it has nothing to do with my username, I assure you

 

It was absolutely not in the cards for me to get a straight razor shave this week. I went by yesterday and the guy was gone to the coffee shop down the block. I hung around for several minutes but he never showed up.

Then today, I had a chance to go back by there, had enough time to kill that I could get a shave, and the barber was there! So, I stopped by, talked myself into buying a bottle of Pinaud's Clubman Bay Rum for 9.00 justifying that it would cost me at least that much with shipping. We had a long discussion about the forums and my soap making techniques and the various products he carries. He was closing out some stuff and had some good prices on some caswell massey and some musgo real stuff, but alas, my finances are beyond stretched. Sorry pal, I'd have gotten you a bottle of Vanilla but I just couldn't swing the $7. He had some Almond soap in a wooden bowl that was just awesome smelling stuff on for half off, hate I couldn't afford it. Anyway, he had some herban cowboy, lots of conks, lots of lucky tiger, and woody's stuff. Had a few products I hadn't heard of, and didn't write down so I could research later (like an idiot). Anyway, was all hyped up to get a shave (renfaire ready beard be danged!)... When his last customer laid his head back into the sink, the sink broke and so his plumbing was broken---no more shaves today.

I guess I just wasn't supposed to get that shave after all. So I grabbed a bottle of Bay Rum and went about my business. Maybe next time I'm in the Ft. Smith area, I'll get a chance to stop back by.

finally settled on some Spring break plans..

Gonna go see the Blue Man Group tomorrow and then go downtown Chicago and turn daughter/wife loose at American Girl Place. I will have an hour or so to go to Truefitt and Hill, L'Occitane, C.O. Bigelow, etc... Then dinner at Cheesecake factory and up to Hancock Tower skydeck for sunset over Chicago.

Woo Hoo... hope things go smoothly!

Hmmm... I wonder if there is any fountain pen stores in that area of Michigan Ave...

I can think Diamine... sure... but I was gonna put an order in at a place that doesn't have Diamine... I was thinking about some J. Herbin Eclat de Saphir and Perle Noire.
