  1. very nice Danny..:)
  2. Sooo

Got a question after my first try

First of all I don’t know if it was a good idea to use the oneblade before after all, cause then it means I have to get really close and I still don’t have the technique for that.

And I couldn’t really shave as I wanted because my soap would get dry on my face after some time, so after a few tries I thought it was best I stop for today

That’s my question right here : do you know why the soap would get dry ? Maybe not enough water on my brush or something

I will try again tomorrow morning
  3. awesome shave and pic Joe..cool razor..
  4. It’s really not an OC, but rather a midway option, but who cares, Angelo! I hope your shave went well! I enjoy shaving with mine!

  6. Thanks, Andrew! Daniel inspired me to go into the cellar and dig up my old photo gear! I used it actively from the 70s through 2012.

  8. Saturday's Shave
    #OCtober

    AutoStrop B1
    GEM S/S PTFE (1)
Grizzly Bay 'Crimson Tide' Custom Brush
    Old Spice Shaving Cream
    Alum
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Old Spice Aftershave

With my full shaving den available to me, I was able to join the OCtober focus today with my oldest open comb razor.
Just 2 passes with the AutoStrop B1 provided a very close near BBS result. I did finish with two nicks though, one just under the nose and one in the middle of my chin. The combination of a fresh GEM PTFE blade and not respecting the efficiency of this razor led to me being a bit careless. The alum, witch hazel and aftershave closed up the nicks quickly however.

    Roll Tide!

  12. Matt, hope that’s your name, you need to share the soap and process so we can help. Generally thin lathers result from insufficient time spent building them, but even more importantly, did you face lather, palm lather or bowl lather? The hardness of your water can also sometimes be a problem. Distilled water is cheap, and provides a good solution to the hard water issue. Let us know your process with the shavette.

  16. I agree, Barry, Gem razors are great shavers! I’ll be shaving my dome with my MMOC at some point during the month! I do have some Gillette OCs to work through as well this month.

  17. Knowing when to call it quits is usually a hard earned lesson that you figured out on your first attempt. Good job.
A lot of variables go into a good stable lather. Not enough water, too much water, the quality of the water you're using and the chosen soap. Tell us more about the software you're using, we may be able to help.

  18. Soap dries out, because, quite simply there is not enough water in the mix. Load your brush longer, for starters. Second, add PLENTY of water, albeit slowly. Look, if you ruin the lather with too much water you can always add more soap.
  19. awesome set up and pic Evan.cool senator..
