I bet Mountain Oysters would be good. I’ll try them if I ever get the chance. I will try pretty much anything at least once.

The best I could describe them would be similar to chicken fried steak.

What soap and brush did you use? Perhaps you need a little more water. Perhaps the brush is a lather hog. It is all part of the process. Each artisan soap May require a different approach to loading, amount of soap and time swirling of the brush.

I tend to like to scoop an almond sized amount of soap out of the jar and press it into a bowl. The only time a damp brush touches the soap would be with the soaps that have been pressed into a mug. This way the soaps in the jar stay dry.

I find with certain soaps give me a more voluminous lather when I whipped up in the jar.

Just keep at it, you will eventually dial in each soap.

You’ve got me by one brush, but I have a 15 safety razor stand in Red Oak and a wooden straight razor stand he made for me. Both are put to good purpose!

Oh THAT is his last name? The joke's on me. By the way, when I said Rod Stirling I'm not confusing him with Rod Stoylin :).

That would taste great. I saw on the food channel someone doing chicken fried bacon.

Since I've announced my plan of going for a full week with the same soap and same aftershave, I'll be "warming up" by doing each soap&A.S. for a trifecta(3 straight shaves) beginning with next week. Or perhaps I should call it "training".

As a teen-ager(or in my early 20's), I'd have gone for that. Too old now.

I have a Kent infinity silvertex brush, it’s 21 mm so medium sized, and I have a proraso soap (the one for sensitive skin)

I really think it’s my technique in the end, I just have to get used to it and be able to judge properly the proportion of water, soap etc.

The main problem is my lack of experience, I think

I just have to keep practicing

And yeah it was my very first time lathering as this was my very first time ever shaving that way (as in wet shaving) so I just have to learn everything properly and keep at it as you say
