Yes, it must be your sinusitis, Joe. I have put +/- 12 Omegas in handles, and while the level of stink does vary, they all stink.

SOTD SUNDAY MORNING, OCTOBER 4, 2020

After my great mug shave yesterday with my Manhattan Cutlery Sheffield razor, I just couldn’t help myself. I reached for an even older Sheffield, my Frederick Reynolds which I’d touched up last night on the ILR. I decided to use my TOBS Peppermint shave cream to complement the PAA Frost Byte AS’s peppermint.

Part of the benefit of having a son who’s been straight shaving for close to two decades is their user experience. Ben steered me towards both these Sheffield’s and towards a third, an early Boker arriving back from Glen Mercurio tomorrow from a restoration. Apparently, Boker used to import Sheffield steel before a German Trade Act halting such imports in the early 1890s.
I expect after Glen’s beauty treatment and honing it will shave as beautifully as it’s predecessors and the two Japanese razors Ben selected for me as well.

The lather was well-generated with my new MrEE Monster Synth, but like all TOBS creams was severely lacking in the post-shave skin feel department. Nancy Boy and MWF have set a very high bar, and I’ve yet to find a cream or soap that comes close to meeting it. Then again, I should take the crotchety curmudgeon factor into account. The three pass (WTG, ATG, XTG) mug shave with the Reynolds razor was buttery smooth and left my face clean and velveteen.

For the dome shave I pulled out my early production (1920) Gillette Big Fellow OC with the large Old Type head, I loaded a Wizamet Iridium on its second and last shave and proceeded to have an exemplary two pass (ATG, ATG) velveteen noggin shave. I really like the longer handle on this particular Big Fellow. I suspect I would enjoy the later model with the New Standard head more, but that’s an issue for another day! All in all a splendid shave to match this bright sunny day here in the Philadelphia suburbs.

RAZOR: Frederick Reynolds 5/8 Bovine Scale (Mug), Gillette Big Fellow [1920] (Dome)
    BLADE: Wizamet Iridium (2)
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE Monster Aluminum Tuxedo Synth
    CREAM: TOBS Peppermint
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys WH. Finished with PAA Frost Byte AS Splash.

    Good morning!

Wow, what a fantastic shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS. Completely silent alum. I'm going to say it...

    Epic!

Today's software inspired by @Mattay . Started with a one squeeze, one flick damp synthetic knot.Twenty second total load time, ten seconds CW, ten seconds CCW directly from the tub. Bowl lathered with alternating CW, CCW and back and forth strokes while gradually adding water. A total of six healthy brush dips brought the lather to my preferred consistency. Awesome slick, protective lather.

Today's razor inspired (enabled) by @clint64 . I was expecting a much different experience with the open comb version of the Tradere. I was expecting more aggression. I found it to be just as smooth as the SB Tradere with maybe a tiny bit more blade feel. Spectacular shave!

    Have a great day!

That is awesome, Evan. You need to keep that one. Searching for perfection in original designs is a rabbit hole in itself. Your work has become truly original and amazing.

Awesome! Texas really does have it's own brand of redneck. I grew up in Midland and graduated from Robert E Lee High School. It's like no other place on earth.

Very nice, Jeff. Love that Big Fellow! You say that you would enjoy the New Improved head more? Maybe, but I really like the OT head. The New Improved is fine in its own right, but I prefer the News that came after it- Deluxe, SC and LC.

Great lather advice, Jim. That Tradere looks amazing, and I’m jealous of that Evo. Simply cannot find one to ship to Canada without truly outrageous charges.

Good to see you posting Patrick! We assumed you were dead just like everyone else that dropped off for a while, including me.

Nice shave! 5 days growth! I'd bet that felt great.

‘Is that time of year for projects for sure. Thankfully it was a one day project here, Evan. Decorative concrete brick wall around a large fir in our side yard. Don’t stand too long in one place in our yard or SWMBO will build a flower bed around you...:happy088:

    Hi all.
I've spent a week with one of Toms @twhite unique razors.
Wish I had one of my own!
Also got to use a unique shaving soap too. The scene is to my liking.

Besides from breaking out from something I've gotten into a few days ago. This made the shaving slow.
It was a nice 3 pass head and face, no issue shave.

    Enjoy

    Thanks, Jason.
I truly hope you can get your hands on an Evo. Wonderful synthetic knot.

I got a lot of helpful advice when I first joined the 30DC, doing what I can to help the new, new guy out.

    Thanks, Jason.

Mostly, my samples are from factory or artisans or friend exchange.
This particular one, I've mixed and worked two different soaps making a "personal" version.
It's the first time I mix different brands and different textures.
It's what I call FrankenSoap, and with this line there're also two FrankenAftershave. (balm and lotion)
About the soap, I've shared the link.
