Funny, I was just discussing this with my wife last night. She has a try limit of 2 maybe 3 before she gives up. I generally have 4 failures minimum when I try something new. It's getting better now but I have trashed a lot of stuff. We learn a lot from failure so you might as well fail fast so you can check those boxes off quickly.

I really like it! So close! You'll get there. You hand turners impress me. I memorize mechanical processes but you guys shape the wood with finesse. Very very cool.

I use a chunk of ABS pipe and wrap a fair amount Tuck tape around it. First couple wraps are sticky side out so that it will come off. Slide the 'tube' off and have a decent blank mold. Here's what it looks like when you cut the tape off. Not perfect, but more than acceptable:

An awful pic, but you get the idea.

if you guys go to your local muffler shop they may give you some cut offs ranging anywhere from 1/78 inside diameter to 3 inch any length you like.slice them into 2 halves with a hach saw.hold them together with hose clamps for pouring and remove clamps for removing the blanks..multiple uses..you could line the inside with tape as a release agent.poured many products and sand casting in another life..

Another brush handle in the anodizing tank today. This setup was originally put together to strip nickel which I never needed to do in large batches. I'll be investing in a much bigger tank in the next few weeks.

Right now it's one at a time.

It's actually going to be a makeup brush for my Grandmother. Using this design with a 20mm knot seems to work well. At least that's what my wife says.

I'm curious how many men would be interested in this color.

I'd have no problem using a brush that color.

Here is my latest brushes, JR#416 and 417. Made from Bolivian Rosewood. They are a Celtic knot brush handles. I finished 416 with a silvertip badger and sent it off to Canada. I then waited on my 2-band badger to arrive. It arrived Friday, and I finished 417 by setting the knot.

Very nice Jim! I love the laminate patterns. Truely unique work you're doing. Where do you get the medallions set in the base of some of your handles?

Rosewood is among the scents in one of the Bill Neumann aftershaves I'll be ordering(1911). I'd never heard of the word before so I looked it up in my dictionary. I can imagine it smelling great.
