    Thanks Jeff.
That would be cool if they did... I should have stopped to check it out. :)
What a beautiful area... takes a bit to get to, so a few less people... just my style.

    Beautiful scales Tom,

Now why is the creek called Razor Hone Creek? I ask because our friend @RezDog rockhounds some pretty nice razor hones in the Pacific Northwest, Vancouver area I believe. It might be fun to rockhound around there and see what you can find.

Late shave today, after hitting the track for double distance, making chili, and mowing the yard. My MK 33 took off the extra beard with no extra effort at all, just a day’s work for a good CVH. Cream was T&H Trafalgar lathered with a Life2short1971 two-band, and a splash of Myrsol Agua Balsamica (in the St Germain bottle) topped off a fantastic shave.

    Thank you Steve.
How did the Engstrom perform? When I saw that set, I assumed that razor was faux ivory... cool to see I was wrong.

They perform very well Tom, I’m fond of the Swedish and French framebacks. I’ve only shaved with one so far, so there’s a lot more to come. I have a Berg in similar style and a Tornblöm that’s a bit worn but shaves incredibly well.

I figured that it was faux ivory too, but I don’t believe that it is, Schreger lines have a rather unique look to them and nothing looks quite the same.

That razor looks great, Ian! I have an old Boker due back to me on Monday. It was finished on an Escher thuringian by Glen. I’m really looking forward to shaving with it on Tuesday morning. Great shave kit!

Thank You, Jeff!!! mine was finished on an Ozaki Asagi 5+LV a very hard stone, I love this Jnat set the bevel then moved to this stone with a slurry and kept adding until it was just water.

I’m not very knowledgeable about jnats, but my son has his own jnat rock garden, probably of comparable size to Steve’s (@Steve56). He honed my NOS Nichiri Tokusen by Diamond Hayashi which I received unhoned on his jnats from bevel set to finish, and it shaves like a dream! I can imagine your shave was every bit as good, if not better! I do enjoy this hobby of ours!

99% sure these are not its original scales, but they fit nicely and work with the blade design.

This is the replacement Engstrom for the ‘bad’ one in the 7-day set. It’s scales are not quite the same, but the blade is and is 80+% cosmetic and virtually no wear, it seems full width. Soap and AS were SMN.

It shaved very well, but I think that it could be better and needs a little more stone time - these hard Swedish framebacks frequently seem to need extra Nakayama time to get ‘right’’.

I’ve decided this John & Wm Ragg Paragon is a demanding razor. Raggs and Lunds (which Ragg may have made for them) are among my favorite razors - smooth, close, they shave like a dream. This one has been hard to dial in. What I concluded tonight is it offers a very narrow window of an efficient angle. Too much and it grabs and wants to bit. Too little and stubble is left showing. Just right and voila. That “just right,” of course, is the trick. :chores016:

My new "less is more" setup on the bathroom counter. Lovingly suggested by my love who did not say "you're starting to have more stuff on the bathroom counter than I did getting ready in the morning for high school" 20201004_201758.jpg
