Movie of the Week 2007-05-07

What movies did you see recently or are planning to see? Reviews are encouraged.

 

Spiderman 3

Went to see Spiderman 3 this weekend and joined the crowd that spent over $148 at the box office. The was very good on many levels. It could have been a little shorter and the messages got a little heavy handed but I thought it did a good job of character and plot development. It also had it share of action sequences, special effects of course, comedy and sitting on the edge of your seat. Spiderman was always a tough superhero role. He's just a kid and sometimes people forget that. He has a lot of life lessons to learn while trying to be a hero. Not an easy gig.

I do not go the the movies much but I rent a-lot.

Picked up The Grudge 2, any one who knows me knows that I am a HORROR buff so I will have some Ebert Style Reviews when I watch the movies, will report back.

 

Night at the Museum

Watched "Night at the Museum" as the Friday night family movie. Fun for all. I'm not a big Ben Stiller fan but he puts this one together pretty well. He had some help from Dick Van Dyke, Owen Wilson and Robin Williams. They managed to stay toned down and not steal the show from Ben Stiller. Like, I said, good fun, family entertainment.

To keep this thread on subject, I saw Spiderman 3 last weekend. Agree with all the comments up above.

Recently I picked up "Audition" and "I Spit On Your Grave" Collector's Edition (VHS Widescreen, baby).

Movie of the week for me? This week is the same as any other week Ingmar Bergman's Wild Strawberries of course.
Other than that, I have watched Sin City, The Defiant Ones and The Asphalt Jungle.
Also picked up The Grudge 2 and have Ghost Story on the way from Amazon and Don't Be Afraid of the Dark on the way from ebay.
As far as horror goes I've also been watching the old Night Gallery TV show, particularly the episode The House starring Joanna Pettet (who has the sexiest voice ever:ashamed001 )

I ended up watching the whole thing last night.
