What are some of your favorite sandwiches? Tell us about breads & favorite spreads too. Bread; My homemade semolina/ cracked wheat Fillings: Muenster cheese with ham or turkey Spread: Curry mayo (ironic insofar as I hate mayo that isn’t flavored.)
Extra Mature Cheddar Cheese with thickly sliced vine ripened tomatoes on wholewheat bread. The sweetness and acidity of the tomatoes cut through the fattiness of the cheese perfectly. Salt and black pepper is a must. I'm a man of simple tastes. Heaven!!
Italian meat ball on Italian bread. Haven't had a good one since I moved from NY. Sent from my SM-T387V using Tapatalk
Love Pumpernickel, but not a fan of kraut. I like Turkey Ruebens made with coleslaw instead. Sometimes called a Diane.
* A little kraut goes a long way, balanced against a little 1000 Island. The meat and bread should carry most of the flavor.
We have a tomato sandwich up here in Canada..eh. Now this is distinct from your standard BLT in that there's no B..just T and L.the L being optional. I always felt that plenty of mayonnaise and nice toasted slices of bread was the key to a good tomato sandwich..
Somebody already mentioned Italian meatball so I’ll add Italian sub. Grilled Patty Melt on rye Sausage with grilled peppers and onions topped with brown spicy mustard (bun can be crispy or soft) Mushroom Swiss burger with mayonnaise Tuna salad and extra crunchy Jif with a thin slice of provolone and lettuce on toasted whole wheat. Braunschweiger (thick slice) and cotto salami (thin slice) on multi-grain sourdough with mayonnaise, dijon mustard, lettuce, and white cheddar.
Toasted white kaiser roll with sliced steak, homegrown tomatoes and lettuce with mature cheddar, mayo and sriracha sauce and a fried egg.
Thin slice of good rye bread, like this https://myvintagecooking.com/finnish-rye-sourdough/ With butter and cucumber slices, pickles work too. Cheese, ham, tomatoes and/or salami can work too. Experimenting is a good thing, i usually like to stick with something very simple. Butter+one or two of these works the best in my opinion. I would stick to open sandwiches with bread like this, as it's very dense.
