    Thanks gentlemen!

Fixed.....temporarily. Lowe's didn't have the mixer valve (specific part peg was empty, which says something). Over to Home Depot directly across the street. Replacement $20. 80% plastic, with a brass threaded control. It'll fail too. Original was all brass save for the 'mixer' end made by a company called 'Mixet', no longer in business. It's a typical 'contractor grade' shower warm/cold mixer valve plumbing setup installed in hundreds of thousands if not millions of 'second' bathrooms. A quick search of 'Mixet valve issues' (no need I'll tell you), and the consensus is to have a spare in the house for when they fail. Another search found a company making a brass replacement version like the original. Ordered 2, ~$60 shipped. One will be installed as soon as it gets here. I figure with my $80 spent and 2+ hours playing with water and dirt (outside house main water supply dug out at midnight), I'm still well under the $250+ plumber visit just to show up.....

    Someone else's diagram...it's part section #1.

There's the TSD plumbing lesson for today. Time for a nap....then a shave, and some work after lunch.

That brings back memories, Blair. I always kept a spare shower valve and spare parts in my first house. I was able to get original parts from a local plumber's supply house. It was notoriously finicky too, as was our builder-grade commodes.

We've switched to Delta faucets and Toto commodes in the last couple of houses. That has been money well spent. We have been really pleased with their reliability, and repair parts are easy for DIYers like me to install.

    Enjoy your well-deserved nap. :)

Thanks Andrew. When I first saw the razor I thought there was no hope for it but for some reason I feel in love with it.
