My issue is that I always want to help and that means over-exerting myself at times. I think that subconsciously I want to prove to myself that I'm just as strong and capable as I was 30 years ago (although (grudgingly admitted) I know that I'm not).

Aah your only 52 like me and a few others around here. Waking up achy lets me know I worked hard the day before. I work with men half my age and I think I surprise them when they see just how strong I still am. That said there are times I'll say out loud "All done lifting for today" when I've work my back enough and don't want to hurt it.

Growing old doesn't mean you're not strong ...... just wise enough to know when you need to be strong.

Falling is something to be avoided. It reminds me of last year when I fell off my ladder and broke my knee (tibial plateau). That was on October 4. It has been a year, and I am still not 100%. 85% maybe. I cannot walk without thinking about it. I take a cane out in the yard and when we go away. I am hoping for 100% one day.

Jim, I sincerely mean this as a compliment, with your head in perspective with that roof line you slightly resemble Robert Wadlow. Are you actually on the tall side?

Replaced a fused disconnect on one of my children's Furness.

    It doesn't look bad.
But if you look just below the mains bolt where the disconnect inserts, you can tell where the plastic has been heated from bad connection.
Good for a few more years.

1992 Buick. Replaced water pump and painted and installed new side view mirror. Both jobs were pain. Had to support the motor and remove the PS motor mount just to replace the friggin' water pump!

Line wall chain out of a coal mine. 140 feet of it and a pain to load.
