October 30 Day/Rule Focus Pix & Discussion

It's a beauty and a wonderful family heirloom, Joseph. Do pianos sound better as the wood ages? In the guitar world, guys talk about how the woods "open up" with use and as they age. Vintage Martins, for example, have a richer tone compared to the new ones. Second question...do you have to monitor the indoor humidity? My guitars go into the cases with in-case humidifiers when our house humidity drops below 40% to avoid the wood drying out and cracking.

 

Awesome shaves today gentlemen. I have manage to get caught up. Now to post my SOTD.

Last two days' shaves. Fougère Friday with the SV FA, today with a new option from Zingari Man. Both days face lathering, did better with the SV than I did with Zingari Man....this is self inflicted though, it's a different brush, but also this ZM fragrance is a light menthol, so I was quicker with my face lathering transition to shaving than I would be with SV (or any non mentholated soap). Still two very awesome shaves, DFS+ yesterday, solid BBS today, no issues.

The Socialite is a very nice fragrance, not the 'in your face' like Castle Forbes' Lime, but, a slightly lighter lime/gin aroma that lasts much longer. Shave was 4+ hours ago, still catching light whiffs of what might've hit my collar I guess.

More J3Customs goodness in this straight, measures over 10/8, just barely. My micrometer measured 1.26785 inches at the toe, just a bit more at the middle of the blade and heel. Spine is 5/16"(!) width, with gorgeous opal inset for the length of the blade. Scales are black micarta. Blade is Derek's favorite steel, a hardened 01 Toole Steel polished to a mirror. The spacer and pin/washer hardware is stainless steel. You may notice that the blade is not held by the traditional pin, it's an Allen bolt on both sides, so you can clean easier if needed, but also so you can control the blade pivot resistance. Shaves awesome, quite a hefty hunk of steel. The square toe, despite it's blade size, very easy to get into nose contours.

SRS Shave # 399

Superb shave delivered by this Dick, the 7/8th’s quarter hollow. The RR X has been selected as the next soap sentenced to the fate of the Edmund Fitzgerald. The goal is to finish this off before Christmas.

Once again, I used a three shave to mow done this morning’s growth. The more I use this razor the more I am impressed with it’s weight and feel.

Go to a Verizon store (not a reseller). Take your government issued IDs. Get a manager.

You should consider that your PayPal email address (& password) is compromised as well (and any things tied to that email). The scum is in the middle, seeing you try to correct it.

Thanks, Charlie. I know the humidity greatly affects how long a piano stays in tune. Sounding boards can crack, that, too, is always a concern. Whether or not as the wood ages, does the piano sound better...? Not sure. Keep in mind, the wood in piano is substantially thicker and heavier than in a guitar. Meaning, the degree to which the humidity alters the wood is probably much less.

 

Joe, is that soap a clone of the "The One" scent(forget the company for now)?

 

Thank you, Charlie. We all just had a Zoom call with him. He’s more stable but still not out of the woods yet.
The nurses are able to establish the video link on the computer attached to the rolling cart. They shaved off his big white beard today and left a Push-broom style mustache. I told him when he returns home, he can use the razor I gave him for his birthday two years ago (1948-50 NDC Gillette Super Speed which is his birth era razor).
