That's a 1924 (aka "shovelhead"). It's a very good shaver, but I prefer the 1912s. You can use that blade, but it will not likely be very comfortable unless you strop it. Personally, I don't fool with vintage blades. Just pick up some Gem PTFE rib-back blades for best results.

    RR 400 SE-Plissoft noir
    Williams Mug Soap
    TNNSER-3D
    Gem S/S [1]
    Williams Aqua Velva A/S Lotion

With the arrival of other Razors I have rather neglected this modern creation - The TNNSER -3D printed Razor. Not a clue as to how it was made, just know I was lucky to have got one, having previously tried out some of Tom Whites previous masterpieces, and more recently The Wabbit.
Seems as though I could not go wrong this morning, great lather whipped up by RR 400 made the Shave go well. Provided that does not rush the strokes, this lightweight though not aggressive is very efficient and forgiving.I had no problems getting the kind of finish that I get with my best Vintage SE Razor, up there with the 1924 used yesterday.

    +1

Shovel Head is one of the most aggressive in the sweet ER family SEs.
For this, It was not my fav at first. But the shape is very pleasing.
They're many models, with slight different details.

Now I can (with adapter) pair it with a modern handle, better for my tastes.
And It's one of best vintage in my den, the few ones.

    Monsavon au lait
    ER 1914
    Gem S/S [ 2]
    Jaguar Prestige A/S Lotion.

Another Razor that I have rather neglected of late - The ER 1914. Though I find the whole Razor on the short side, I never have a problem getting a good problem free shave with it. Today was no exception especially as i find the Monsavon lather really good to work with.

The Proraso Red Shaving Soap face-lathered well with Jayaruh #1 Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Eversharp-Schick G1 razor with a Personna injector blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Granddad's Blend AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Stoll Chrome Steel, Gem stainless ptfe blade, shave 6
    stoll.jpg stoll2.jpg stoll3.jpg

First I decided to skip the mk3 Gem Contour since I've already shaved it against the mk2 in the past and can say they are the same so I decided to use this previously unused by me razor. The Wilbert Cutlery Co. produced house brands for Sears and Roebucks with Stoll being one of them. Though provided by Wilbert Cutlery Co. this razor was actually manufactured by Kampfe Bros and is a rebrand of their Star Cru Steel razors. Also on note the cru steel and rebrands were the first non wedge blade razors produced by Kampfe Bros.

This razor sort of takes a modern style gem blade, the original blades were thicker and had different spines on them making for a tighter fit. This razor a modern gem blade is loose and moves around easily without a shim. Though not pictured I used an injector blade as a shim to tighten up the grip of the blade by the razor tabs. When shimmed this razor has a lot of blade feel but is not very efficient at all. End result is almost the same as the previous razors I used which were Gem Contour II razors which was close but short of a BBS finish.

    Hi,
How do you find that little Omega boar.I have one and though it looks rather scrubby, the tips when the brush is loaded are incredibly soft.
