I decided to use this Ukrainian soap that was given to me by Jim R. @Jayaruh. I have used it a few times and it really performs well. The scent is a pleasant, mild, powdery, floral. Whipped up the soap in the mug and got a nice, wet creamy lather. 2.5 passes gave me a BBS minus shave without any issues. I splashed on the Stirling Piacenza aftershave to end this comfortable shave. Have a great Wednesday guys!

Thank you Danny . I'm still experimenting to get the absolute right plan going, but 2 passes with a thick soap appears to put me in that direction. Oh, and additional aftershave.

OCtober 14th

Razor: Gillette Sheraton
Blade: Astra SS
Brush: Simpson X3 Best Badger
SS & AS: Stirling Mountain Man

I wanted to try the Sheraton again with a fresh blade to confirm the last shave was the blade and not the razor. I'm pleased to report this morning's shave was quite nice. Very smooth BBS after 2+ passes.



October is usually my busiest month of the year, but all my projects are ahead of schedule. Feels like that old college dream where I get to the end of the semester and then realize I was registered for several classes I never attended. It can't be going this well for real.

Anyway, I'm going off grid for a few days on a badly needed vacation in the mountains. I'll shave every morning, it's part of the relaxation to get up early and shave while camp is quite (we do have a travel trailer so, calling it camping is a stretch).

I just can't decide if I shave with the same kit everyday or bring few things.

Thank you Joseph.....A paradoxical thing about the soap in that I much prefer the easier-to-spread strong type for 2 strong passes, but I want the aftershave to "out perform" the soap when it comes to scent(as do we all, right?).

 

Thanks Jeff. I believe the problem is my angle. Jim and Clint have chimed in and I'll give their suggestions try in the morning. The Figaro is a very slick soap and I don't think that is the problem. Enjoy your day.

 

Great shave Jeff! You probably prefer the feel of the smaller width straights so that a 6/8 straight would be your sweet spot.
