Micah, I haven't quite seen a handle like that. It looks almost the size of an autostrop C handle (which I believe will fit the 1912 ER head). However, I don't see any knurling pattern.

 

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. The handle feels like it might be aluminum, which is just wrong, and there's a little gap that doesn't look right. I figured it was a frankenrazor, but something about was striking, and so I couldn't pass on it.

The guy did have a couple of autstrops in cases and a few other razors I can't identify, but they were all north of $20 and that's just too rich for my blood. You can't see it, but there is a really fine knurling for the last 1/2 inch of the handle. It's a mystery.

Worse case scenario--I could try turning a custom handle for it.

Any of you lot ever shaved with an eveready 1912?

The Ever-Ready 1912 is one of the finest pieces of shaving gear known to mankind! Where's that scwewy wabbit anyway? He'd have something to say about this!

Anyway, 1912's are my favorite SE razors. Except maybe for Lather Catchers of any kind. :happy108

So Micah, how's about a deal? I've got a beautiful nickel 1912 sitting next to me right now. It's been here for months. The thing is, the head seems a little wonky to me. It looks perfect and mint in every way, but rattles a bit with a blade inserted. I haven't taken the time to ask Dr. [slash]Demento[/slash] Dave how to fix it. I've got several other SE razors that I use. This one just sits here (with it's perfect ornate handle). You want it? Yes, they are fine shavers. I use 1912 SE's often, and lather catchers, etc..

Micah, looking at how long the screw post is on that handle, I also wonder if it was actually a replacement handle that somebody turned themselves already.

Realistically, the handle is just that.. a handle. So many of the DE 3 piece razors have interchangeable handles. And many of the SE razors can exchange handles (there are more thread patterns in that world so not as many can swap out). I know it upsets some out there in the collectible world, but I often swap heads/handles between my DE razors and SE razors just to try different weights and feels for the handles.

The art show today was really cool. Our friend's artwork is beautiful and there was a great turnout. I snapped some shots of everything, and found a couple of extra treats. I'll be doing a more detailed post later this week. I will say that I spotted something that might be of interest to some of you. They had some handmade bowls that were made by highschool students, with the purchase of a bowl, $15 goes to charity to feed those in need. The first thing I thought when I saw them was, "ooh--lather bowls!"

I did pick up a print of Christa's artwork, a neat little dragonfly painting. Like I said, I'll put up a post about it on my blog later this week.

Let me know how that works out. If you set a precedent, I might be able to convince my boss to let me do it.

nah,nothing much, and not really anything to complain about, just don't wanna deal with it.

too much going on this time of year at work, missed the past two Friday's from work, half day today and 1/2 day tomorrow for Dr's appointments.
Dr from last two appointments (last Friday was MRI - yay, fun...and out the wazoo expensive) is sending me to one of his colleagues tomorrow, as he has more experience in my particular injury. MRI confirmed ruptured/torn bicep/tendon. Dr. hasn't said yet, but I'll be surprised if it don't require surgery (anybody need to buy some shaving gear? Have some laptop memory too. Can probably find some other stuff, too).

However, at the moment, I'm not totally incapacitated, as long as I don't try to lift anything heavier than a pen....

That's the nutshell version...full size version ain't much different, but there is a half-time dancing girl routine, and the extended cut features duck puppets...

 

Pay no attention to this tape measure... Why am I drawing a dotted line in the shape of a kidney on your back? uhm, don't worry about it, it's nothing--now if you could just put this mask on and take a deep breath---it smells like strawberries! Seriously though, that sucks. Sorry you're having such a hard time with that. If there's anything we can do, just let us know.
