Yeah, Jim. I got a couple of emails from our church on this. While my prayers go to her, my thoughts are more personal. I am reminded of how fragile we are and how precious every moment with loved ones is.

you were way too nice about the Baldwin and Tina Fey. That's the Baldwin that promised to leave the U.S. if Bush was elected, right? And yet he's still here. Pretending to act. He couldn't even do Thomas the Tank Engine right. It takes effort to mess up narrating Thomas, but he managed to do it...

Oh good. I was afraid the "puppy-kicking Nazis" thing might have been a tad too far.

I figure most everyone in Atlanta "metroplex" has heard, and yes, it is a somber reminder to hug your kids & loved ones everyday, not wait for the "special" occasions.
    excellent point, my friend

No kidding. If Ringo Starr is a better actor than you, that's a sign, man, hang it up.

Seriously, George Seven-Dirty-Words-You-Can't-Say-On-TV Carlin was better on this kids' programming than Alec I-don't-give-a-d*mn-that-you're-12-years-old-or-11-years-old-or-a-child-or-that-your-mother-is-a-thoughtless-pain-in-the-*ss-who-doesn't-care-about-what-you-do Baldwin. That's just sad.

oh man. If alec baldwin would just make his life decisions based on our advice, the world, or at least Thomas the Tank Engine, would be so much better.

Its sad... A group of grown men discussing the merits of different Thomas the Tank Engine narrators. Its a sad sad sad world...

You are all correct.. But it is still a sad sad world.

BTW: I hate the cottonwood season. I think I was sneezing for almost an hour last night. Certainly didn't help me be ready for today. And fracking Baldwin can get lost... well not the Balwin who was on Firefly (no relation).

Jayne... The man they called Jayne.....

Oh no.. I am still using "fracking" even when I haven't watched BSG in how many years?

The girl and her family are definitely in my thoughts Jim, that is a frightening thing to read, but as a parent it really hits close to home when in just the blink of an eye, the life of your child is hanging by a thread.

I've seen what it did to my brother and his wife, and the devastation it has caused them, and I've always said the saddest thing that could ever happen to a parent is to bury your child.

Micah I hope it all works out for you also.

Made even sadder by the fact that at least one of those grown men is child-free.

And while we're on the subject, I miss the whole Shining Times Station aspect of Thomas. The jukebox was cool.

    Update:

we just got back from little rock, keith and cathy are exhausted at this point, as i can only imagine; it's frightening being in a situation you are powerless in, especially when it comes to your children, and it's all in God's hands...
but, whose hands could be better than our magnificent God?
please continue to pray for Emily

In regards to lunches in the teachers' lounge. I eat in my classroom.

But if I were to eat in the teachers' lounge, I might have to get one of these.

There's nothing wrong with Thomas the Tank Engine!

The Firefly Baldwin is good, the 30 Rock, not so good.

I do like Firefly, but BSG? :sick007

    :D

I took a friend who got into fountain pens a couple months ago. He was even giddier than I was last year. Haha.

Nathan fainted as I walked through the door at 10:00 AM. He hit his head on the table on the way down. My friend and I pulled the tables away sending a bunch of his stuff to the floor. Whoops. Once he was back awake and regained his composure, he was a hoot. He's really great to talk to. I picked up a bottle of the North African Violet V-mail ink (I can't resist a pretty purple) and a couple of his new fountain pens.

    Will do, Jim.

    That's a pretty rocking lunchbox.

I loved the new BSG when it first came out. I hung in there all the way through to the bitter and and now... I fracking hate using that fracking word, and I am so tired of BSG and its shoddy plots. Ugh.

They should bring back Firefly. Not a relaunch. Just pick it up where the movie left off. At least put out a few more movies- like Sci Fi Channel movie of the week deals. I'm confident enough people would watch to make it worth their while.

And hey, early Thomas the Tank Engine episodes were good shows in their own right. They're really fun to watch if you enjoy model train engineering. The attention to detail in the early CGI free episodes was quite amazing.

I don't get the Shining Time stuff. Never watched it as a kid. There's a Thomas movie *shudder* that is absolutely horrible. It combines the Shining Time stuff with a completely nonsensical plot (Thomas set in Pennsylvania, not England) to make a mind numbingly horrible movie. Oh, and the Baldwin is in it. And Peter Fonda.

The lunchbox is super-cool. Thomas is better than 30 Rock.

And like others, I'll continue praying, Jim. Keep up updated.

my wife and I got to visit with the parents alone last night after everyone else left. was a goo visit, and they got to kinda relax (as much as one could be expected given the circumstances) and talk, not in a medical way, or a "how are you?" way, but in a cathartic, just-let-it-out way. when I told them that there are many not just from our home area, but all over the country who don't even know them, who are praying for them, you can see it in their eyes how much it meant to them.
    thank you, everyone.
I will try to keep updates for those interested, as I'm sure this will be a front-burner thing for us for some considerable time.

but, if you're interested, there is a website that is available, the mom is going to keep up to date info on, and has a place for sending messages of encouragement. PM me if you're interested and I'll share the link
