very good suggestion. I'm also planning on starting a shotgun fund here shortly. From age 10 until she leaves the house I'm planning on sitting on the front porch every evening and cleaning that shotgun.

    now that's mad.

    morning justin!

    Yes. It is morning.

Actually, yesterday ended up being a pretty good day for me. Had some comp time coming, so I took a half day off work. Video Gallery is shutting down :( but that means they're selling their movies at a discount :D. Soooo, we stopped in there, got a copy of Rear Window and Tideland, and one of the Librarian movies. (I exhibited amazing self control... that foreign films aisle was just beckoning me). Then we went to the Goodwill so we could continue our quest to make Wifey-poo's to-be-read stack the tallest man-made structure in the world, and I found an awesome old leather sport-coat for $20. The leather has some kind of bad spots in it and there's an ink mark or two on it, but it has that lived in look that leather can only get by being lived in. Goodwill had yellow-tag stuff buy one get one free, so I ended up with a copy of a 1970 How-to-knit book. Went to Big Lots---got more movies. Michael's yielded some yarn. Had a post on Reddit nearly make it to the front page. All in all, pretty good day.

Have you seen Tidelands before? I ask because I saw it a while back- if you've seen it I'd love to hear your take.

I haven't seen it. I actually know very little about it. The story sounds kind of interesting, and I'm sure it will be dark/weird. What I do know is that it was a pet project for one of my all-time favorite directors, Terry Gilliam. He shot it in the middle of some legal battles with the production studio that was paying him to make The Brothers Grimm while production was halted. :happy102

I owe it all to How's Your Day. Seriously. :D

It's different from all the other Gilliam films I've seen. I thought it would be closer to Brazil, but it really wasn't. The film stands on its own and has its own very strong character. Doesn't compare to Gilliam's other movies. I will be more specific once you've seen it.

Wow, that slipped right past me.

Pretty much the same here. :o

Thanks. I don't want to have any pre-conceived ideas going in. I want to see it "fresh."

Hey Bill. Trust me - it was hard not to comment on it when I heard her saying it.

And no, I did not dress up. Haha.

I'm all healed up, thankfully. No lasting pain or anything I can tell.

If I kidnap you do I get your Little Debbie Pumpkin Delites?

    Shopped.

I fell asleep in the lobby at daughters 3:30 appointment. I guess I needed that power nap before the almost hour of stop and go traffic to make it the 20 miles home. Blah...

Oh well... pizza is in the oven for dinner and I can get in more comfortable clothes. I almost wish regular teachers could wear shorts to school.

I'm glad you've made it to the next stage of recovery, but I'm sorry it bites. Hope you feel better and heal asap... :(

Naps are good for the soul. So are shorts. ;)

...and what's up with Bill's new CT? :D

    Update:

Emily is still being sedated, but there's lots of positive improvement, responding to sounds and sights and touch, not just "posturing" but actual reactions.
she's been taking breaths on her own, the machine is set at 24 breaths per minute, but she's taking 26-29!
there's still swelling in her brain, it's less than it was, but still needs to go away.
she's been moved to a new bed, they had to take her braces off and that went well, blood pressure, etc is well. all just glorious praises.

For those who are praying or wanting to pray, the specific current request is for the swelling in Emily's brain to go down.
