So ya wanna know how I did with my shave today? Take my report of yesterday and rubber-stamp that baby in for today!!

That's right, pretty equal to yesterday. 0:25 to load the Stoylin Pro-handle. A little too much blooming for the brush, but I figure maybe the soap will dry down, as I'm moving on to a different one tomorrow. As with yesterday, I had 2 Knicks during the first pass, but had confidence that they'd both be controlled by the end of the shave, which they were. Other than that, all went quite well. Fine second pass, during which I spent some time at the other area that needs work-North Porcupine Alley at the right side edge. That was a success, which pleased me to no end. Now I just need to build on these successes, and, of course, keep controlling those Knicks-better yet, not have any in the first place. Most Excellent.

We gotta do something about those nicks Paul. I love your reports but hate the nicks.

Sounds like the shave was great except for the nicks.

    Take care friend!

Awesome progress Paul. Just remember a good splash of 'the' Clubman will take care of those nicks and scrapes :eatdrink013:

I know it, Danny.....they're well controlled by the end of the shave, especially if they happen early(1st pass) but they shouldn't be there at all. I've tried to slow down as I progress through the areas that get them...need to go slower, I guess. It's like mowing the lawn with a regular mower.

I wonder if skin stretching would help?

It might. I'd have to do a few "trial shaves" on that end, so as not to end up shaving my hand as it stretches the skin. Another thing I need to be sure to do is get more soap onto those areas. I keep thinking I have enough-apparently not. (But then there are those times I'm free of Knicks&cuts).

Great choice Paul ! Main thing is Don't get frustrated when you get a nick on the first pass and hang in till the end. Not everyones face likes a razor being dragged across it and I for one 'El Scratcho' got this name for said reason. My skin is sensitive as heck and there are days when the last thing it wants is a blade scraping a layer off it . I could write volumes on the times I've gotten razor burn , scrapes , cuts , etc but I hung on and do revel in the good shaves . I believe my skin has gotten more conditioned to shaving with the DE, SE, and anything else I can strap a blade onto, so I can relate to your frustration at these times. When I used carts my batting average was much lower again as they left shaving bumps and ingrown hairs galore. The transition to DE wasn't easy but was worth the effort. As Red Green would say '"Remember I'm pulling for ya,we are all in this together ".

Thanks Patrick..and that is something I'm learning to do....not get frustrated, especially from an early cut. Next pass usually cleans it up, unless it's too big, of course. I have nothing personally against the more popular types of razors-it's just that I've never been able to negotiate the act of safely slipping in new blades. And I guess the other frustration with them is working angles correctly, but that's on me, not the DE, SE razors. Red Green? Never heard of him, but I'm not sure I'd want a name with two colors.

Very nice shave Douglas. Speaking of a generator, I Amin the market for one as well. If you did any research prior to making your selection I would be interested in learning about your recommendation.

IMG_5722.jpg Another new soap in the den, via Gary. I'd heard lots of good things about Mike's and was excited to give it a go. The scent sounded interesting, but to be honest, my first thought off the puck was 'meh'. When lathering, though, the pepper came through much more and quite distinctly. A very unique scent that I found pleasant. The performance was great. So many good soap makers right now, and this is one of them. 3 easy passes- maybe a tiny amount left on my lower right neck (as per usual) but I didn't chase it, either. I hoped Bon Vivant may be a decent pairing, and I think it was. Terre d'Hermes dupes would probably be good too.
    Have a great day all!
