very appropriate. vacation's over now. back to work, for me anyway. bottled my first batch of homebrewed beer. went well. I'm looking forward to the finished product.

I made: midwestern supply's autumn amber with an alcohol boost pack from Austin Homebrew. Original gravity was 1.052. Final gravity was 1.009. I'm quite happy with the results. I'm gonna go with a souped up porter or stout for my next try. congrats on the 9 years! beer isn't worth ruining one's life over. now a single ring made of pure unobtanium...
is that real? I could have/ would have written that script when I was in 6th grade. Even now, the grown up me is oddly interested.
Kewl... I wanna try that.. but how much space does it take up? What kind of initial investment does that take? Blew my knee out again.. argh... Okay, HYD, I've got a moral dilemma... I haven't watched the original Superman movies in probably 20 years. Today, I purchased Superman, Superman II, and Superman III in the deluxe special editions. Superman is the 4 disc set with the original 1978 theatrical release and the Richard Donner cut, which I've never seen. So, here's my question, HYD, since it's going to be a somewhat fresh viewing experience, should I go for the original version that I have seen several times, albeit years ago, or do I go with the Donner cut (which I hear is pretty flawed) and make it an entirely new experience?

I would watch the original first. I have never seen the Donner cut, but I think it would be interesting to watch. However, I would watch the three movies as released and then go back and watch Donner.
hmmm.... homebrewing can take up as little as a small-ish corner of a room or it can expand to take over entire basements. Depends on how far you wanna go. Same principle applies for cost. The bare bones gear costs about $60 to $80. I bought a bunch of extras- my startup gear came in around $150. In addition to gear you need a beer kit, which will run between $20 and $40. The kits make 5 gallon batches of beer (roughly two cases of 12 oz. bottles). So if you enjoy microbrewed beers this is a substantial savings. In my area, microbrews go for $7 to $10 a six pack. At $7 per six, two cases comes in at $56. The selection of microbrews in my area is abysmal. You literally can't get what you want. And you end up paying through the nose for what you can get. Go with the original. Remind yourself of what you enjoyed about the film before you watch a modified version.
