Well the moment of truth has arrived! It's my first open blade razor shave since my eye injury last Sunday. What better way to celebrate my complete healing with using my Mad Max! It's my biggest razor and if I can shave with it, then my eye is truly, truly fine.
Everything worked well. I did 2.5 passes with minor touch ups for a BBQ shave. I didn't lose and blood and there wasn't any irritation. I took a little extra time just to be a little more cautious and to enjoy the shave a little longer. Applied a liberal amount of the aftershave and there wasn't any stinging. I am glad I am back at full strength! Have an awesome Sunday guys! View attachment 238237

  5. Awesome shave Joe! Is the razor new? I have not seen that one before. You need a license for that weapon. It is so purdy. Glad your back in the saddle.

  9. Thank you Danny! You were on sabbatical when I bought it brand new and received it for my 65th birthday in June! Max Sprecher is a famous and top tier custom straight razor manufacturer. The scales are made out of blue Paul which is a type of abalone shell. I wouldn't normally buy an expensive straight razor, but you only turn 65 once. Yes, you have to be on your A game to wield this blade.

I enjoyed the end of daylight savings time today. I appreciated the extra hour of sleep. I am not sure Mocha agreed or understood. ;) I plan on spending the time to fully dial in the Pils razor. The shaving angle in different from most of my other razors and it has a narrow sweet spot. I used the PAA Chel as a preshave and added B&M Terrorade to the bowl as I lathered. My face is still filling the chill. Three passes and touch caught the baby but I did have to really work buffing several spots to get the results. Hopefully this will improve over the coming weeks. A splash of Green Vetiver followed by a spritz of Guerain Vetiver left me smelling good. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

  15. Awesome straight razor shaves and comparison Jeff! As a film honer, I would agree that the edges may be a little harsh. I cut the harshness by stropping on Chrox, then fabric, then leather.
