there may be a per-day limit at the $10 a month level, but I believe it's unlimited at higher levels. They want you to stream videos, since it costs them a whole lot less in postage, allows them to reduce storage, and reduces the amount of "my dvd delivery is slow" complaints.

    get cracking, lazy-man!

Have any of you tried the crayola dry erase crayons?

I'm installing a 12 foot dry erase board in my office and I'm thinking of getting some of the crayons instead of markers which always seem to dry up waaaay to soon. Just wondering how they compare. I'm also curious whether regular crayons would work.

Those are pretty cool, Micah! AT my place of employment, all of the cubes in R&D have white boards. I might have to grab a set of these, just for fun. Thanks!

I never heard of these either. Looking at the reviews it looks like 1) they don't easily wipe off and you either need to use something like a baby wipe or have to rub a bit and 2) regular crayons work, but they are even harder to rub off and don't show up as well.

I am thinking these would be good when using the white boards with classroom games. I hate the corn-chip/wet smelly sock smell the room gets when 15 teams of kids are using dry-erase markers on the same day.

One of the reviews said they got them at Staples... maybe I will pick some up this weekend then..

never heard of them, but they sound pretty cool, except for Justin's note of they're more work to erase than markers - however, that could be a good thing, I always hate when I'm writing on dry erase and my hand erases what I just wrote.
I'll be checking Staples tomorrow :D

I am heading into my classroom this afternoon to rebuild some robots, perhaps I will grab some regular crayons and see how they work on the dry-erase boards.

Walmart has 'em. They're where all the crayola crap is. You know, over near the greeting cards.

    Success!

Just tried some regular crayons on my dry erase board. Worked a treat. Just wiped right off. Had to scrub a little, but it wasn't like impossible hard to do or anything.

not up here... they just remodeled and turned our Walmart into a scavenger hunt. While I do appreciate the charcoal and charcoal lighter being in the same aisle as the mascara (its really the same stuff right?). Juice boxes are with the dog food, electric fans and AC units are with the towels and hand bags , and the photo processing is with the bathrooms. It is a headache finding anything. I think the crayons are with the scrapbooking stuff between the air filters and oil change kits and the greeting cards are between woman's clothing and the snack foods. Argh! And if you think it is confusing in there now, you should have seen it while they were daily moving things around to clear out floor space for what was being remodeled that week...

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire, but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

OK, so I was spending a few hours looking at some future computer upgrades and trying to get myself back up to speed. I haven't done any real upgrades in almost 8 years? So I am going back and forth between several sites and eventually load a cart on Newegg just so I can keep track of what I have chosen. Then I saw the Bill Me Later choice... ohh that was probably a bad bad thing...

Of course now that it is the next morning I am wishing I had added a few more things to the cart, maybe a faster CPU, etc... But I was trying to work within a budget so its best that I didn't.

Hmmm.... Do Molex to SATA power adapters work well enough or should I go ahead and upgrade my power supply as well.. I can pick up PS units local (at least I could the last time I had one go out..)

for all you tech guys- I'm in the market for a budget desktop computer. We've been using an 8 year old Dell laptop for our family computer and it's getting to the point of being basically unusable.

Ideally, I'd want to spend around $500 on a replacement. It does not need much- it would primarily be an internet surfing device but would also be used for word processing and the occasional spreadsheet.

I am highly dubious of eMachines products and would like to avoid them. Any suggestions?

I'd wait a couple weeks for Best Buy to start having their back to school sales. You should be able to get a something decent for around $500.
