SOTD WEDNESDAY MORNING, NOVEMBER 4, 2020

A beautiful day here in the Philadelphia suburbs complemented by a great shave with a newly acquired Wade & Butcher 7/8 partial wedge. With its newly honed jasper edge and heft in hand it sheared through my my mug stubble effortlessly leaving a smooth velveteen shave surface. My Supply V2 took care of my dome in much the same way floating on its own slick, yogurty MWF lather carpet. Humphrey’s Lilac WH and Osage Rub completed a great shave on day two of the US election process. I feel refreshed, clean and velveteen smooth.

RAZOR: Wade & Butcher 7/8 (Mug), Supply V2 (Dome)
    BLADE: Schick Proline B-20
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
BRUSH: MrEE Aluminum Handle Monster Tuxedo Synth
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH. Finished with Osage Rub.

Thanks Paul! I am learning that different brushes need different lathering techniques.

I'm Paul, and that makes sense....the size is probably the major factor. (Course it could be the type of brush too, but I can't comment, as all mine are synthetics).

I have decided to make the Barrister and Mann Bay Rum part of my NOVember rule.
That soap and the Detroit National
straight are now my daily drivers until December.
The Duke really whipped up a magnificent, shiny and slick lather.

Once again, the straight received the perfunctory stropping, nothing more.
Tried some buffing on the neck---so slick is the soap, that it is actually possible, and got some good results.
Cleaning up the goatee from the right, set the edge down wrong and was rewarded with a mark.
Cracked open a new bottle of SMST Winter Reserve. This bottle, unlike my first, just has a cork-top.
I did use the eye dropper to suck some of the juice out of the bottle.
I liked my old bottle better. The juice, however, is just as good and has a deep, rich scent.
IMO, it could use a touch more alcohol to "kick it up a notch".

Next up in the No repeat rotation was the BoS. A quality product with a scent that is unique in my den. 3rd day with the Katana. Swapped out the blade for the other 1/2 of the Nacet. Two days for one side of a DE seemed about right. 3 passes later I am quite smooth, without a lot of irritation. I've gotten this razor where I want it after 3 days, but man it is still a razor that you need to pay attention with. Adding a sharp blade like a Nacet adds to that too. A mindless daily driver? Nope. A nice change of pace? Sure.
I tried to show the blade gap in the pic today. There are lots of ways a razor can get to be considered aggressive (even removing the safety bar, a la @Terry), but I think this one feels aggressive due to the large gap between the blade and the safety bar, as well as the slight curvature the design puts on the blade. There is quite a bit of positive blade exposure as well. I think I'll keep it, but I'm moving on to some other new toys (this is a focus, for the love of mercy!) before I go to a straight 'no repeat' rotation for razors as well.
    Have a great day all!
