I consider myself lucky to have that '36 Aristocrat. I'm sure there's a little coolness factor/placebo effect going on, but I sware it's one of the smoothest razors I've ever used. It's not mint, but that just means I don't mind using it, and I plan on using it.

when wrote "intermediate" I was thinking blade gap and exposure. As in what changes when you turn the dial on an adjustable. I always thought of the smoothness as a function of the blade, but I'm open other ideas. I guess my point was simple. I don't need to dial it up to 11 to feel good about my shave. When I started I thought the aggressive razors were the only way to go and the purpose of learning was to get to that level. I no longer feel that way.

It'd probably qualify as a quarter hollow. Thing is, the spine starts so wide at 5/16", there's zero blade flex, so it shaves like a wedge (or meat cleaver as @jtspartan called it).

I understand. I'll get there. I like trying new brands but I can't buy a small package due to the high cost per unit. And when I find a brand I like I have to buy a few hundred, because you never know when they'll stop making them. Thanks PolSilver!

I was paying attention to all the other goodies when she asked about the cookies. :D She and her adopted greyhound, Cody, are visiting for the week since all her classes for the remainder of the semester are remote.

And my hobby budget for the year was gone weeks ago. Thankfully my gasoline budget isn't going anywhere for a while. I better not have to start commuting again. That money is tied up for a while.

Excellent shave for a change, no cuts or nicks just a smooth sailing shaving. Now I just need a haircut to clean up.
Hope everyone has had a great week, Friday coming up tomorrow already! Next thing you know Thanksgiving will be here before you know it!
more of an 80s theme shave (coincidentally) with the 80s puck of old spice/aftershave and the over worn, yet still good Drakkar.
