Congrats Patrick. Add 'em to your blade inventory spreadsheet. Here's another graph for you, my friend. More will be revealed in due time. :D

Yes. I’ve also tried every other bit of advice I’ve ever seen. It’s not my skill level or water (I’ve tried distilled). The resulting lather is always within the same range. I also do not find it to be a thirsty soap as you’ve often mentioned. All this leads me to believe it’s possible I got a bunk puck. I gave it a fair shake and I will finish the puck just to be stubborn.

Thanks, Joe. I’ve used distilled water. Same result. I’m just going to finish the puck and be done with it.

Evan, please don't consider a 31.8-year blade supply to be a stopping point! I'm just taking a breather on buying more blades. A 50- or 75-year supply seems more prudent. ;)

My Feathers cost more than 20 cents each, while some of my Russian blades cost about a third of that. I'm glad I stocked up on Polsilvers and Sharp Stars, in particular, as they're becoming scarce these days. My favorite blades, though, are my least expensive ones...the Voskhods and Sharp Stars.

I sometimes wonder if we'll always have a steady and relatively inexpensive supply of Russian blades. In today's world, who knows? That's part of the reason I stocked up.

I enjoyed checking out your Shave Den, Andrew. I assume you had to purchase a flammable storage cabinet for your aftershave collection and have it inspected by the Fire Marshall. I feel a little better about myself now. Excuse me while I go buy more blades. :D

Seriously, you have a very nice Den! :happy088:

Evan, there are a lot of unused Valet strops available that can easily be reconditioned with some TLC and neatsfoot oil. I have two, an Ever Ready and a Valet that can be used interchangeably.

Wow, you may have a bad puck! I’ve never had those issues with MWF paste face lathering or with distilled water which I use at our place on Tybee.

In the interest of science, I may need to house-sit for you in order that I may use some fresh coastal water off Tybee Island to make a MWF lather... :signs002:

I just checked out your shave den link. Now I feel so much better about my small acquisition disorder. ;) That took you some serious time to input into The Shave Buddy app.

I don't know what else to say Andrew. Personally, I would never use MWF due to my NY water. You tried everything and still no dice. All the prevailing wisdom is that the soap is thirsty and it needs to be bloomed with warm water. I am sure you did all of these things. The only other thing that I woukd try is load it and load it and load it in a super scritchy brush. Otherwise, I would agree with you that you got an inferior batch. Hmm!
