    Happy System Administrator's Day!

meh. You can't remind your coworkers without looking like you're begging for attention. Google doesn't even give us a custom logo. It's kind of sad.

true story: my wife frequently asks me, "what are we going to do tomorrow?"

I used to automatically answer, "what we do every day, try to take over the world!"

She's never seen Animaniacs and so she used to get mad at me every time I responded that way. Even in the face of wifely wrath it took a while for me to stop- it wasn't that I didn't want to stop, the question and response was just that deeply ingrained.

Oh the joys of kid-friendly programming.

I'm being subjected to Suite Life on Deck--at least this episode features Charo. Is it a little sad that I still find her oddly compelling? Cuchi Cuchi! :ashamed001

oh, don't get me started...we don't have cable or satellite here at home, but everytime we go to my parents, if there's not a race or football game on, the kids get control of the TV - Spongebob isn't so bad anymore, I've come to appreciate it a little....but iCarly has got to go

iCarly's one redeeming quality is Sam. Somehow, she's tolerable. The idiot brother's art is kind of cool sometimes, but how in the world did he get to be the legal guardian?!?

hmmmm, interesting observation....for me, the Pear brand computer is just sacrilegious....everyone knows they should be running a Papaya brand computer, with the Doors operating system installed :D

YAY!!!!!! WOO HOO!!!!! That is wonderful news!

Can't say I have ever seen one of those in a hardware store. I can think of a number of alternate uses, but what is the actual use?

Thank you all the sys admins.. I know we give you many craptastic days, but you keep things rolling along!

 OK, I saw one episode because it was on in a doctors office lobby and I was trapped and couldn't focus on the book or work I brought along. Can't say I would ever try to watch it.

    Mango...

I just had a kick arse day. I got up about 6:30 am and drank coffee for about thirty minutes before heading to the woodshop. I put the stain finish on a little bow for my niece, then built a portable and adjustable reflex/deflex jig, cut a maple and hickory board to laminate together for another bow, then finished my first homemade arrow, then got a long-string tiller on a red oak board bow, then built a fletching jig. I pulled out an elm stave and began whittling on it when I realized it was nearly 5 in the evening! I was hot and tired when I came in, but it was a wonderful day.

Yesterday, we went to a used book store where TWGW had some in-store credit. Picked up a copy of "The Saint: 5 novels" and "Caravan to Xanadu" for $1 apiece (free because of the in-store credit!).

Well, for 8 years of marriage, we've been trying to catch the local Salvation Army while it was actually open. I kid you not, in 8 years, the thing has been closed every single time we've been by to visit--even during normal shop hours. Well, today, that changed. My sis-in-law took her sons for a haircut at the barbershop next-door to the SA, and she called us from the parking lot and said it was open! So in to town we went. I found a big bundle of used knitting needles including a #4 16" circular (woohoo!) for $5, and a copy of "Plato and a Platypus Walk Into a Bar: Understanding Philosophy Through Jokes." Then we went over to a different shop, and there was a Burmashave set (Decorative tin box, coffee mug, red handled brush, and an unused puck of Burmashave soap--real fatty feeling) for $6 (I didn't buy it though, I already have the set, and $6 was really a little steep, but I might still go back and get it anyway.)

Then we went to another shop, where I found a bunch of vintage yarn (didn't buy any, but it's good to know it's there.) Following that, we went to Fred's. It's been recently remodelled--and it was awesome. They had injector blades, knock-off old spice (New Spice, I kid you not), and Williams (A buck a puck).

Then we got back to the house, and I pulled up the computer and was playing around online looking for some ebook resources and found manybooks.net <---awesome resource. All in all, it's been a pretty decent day. Good to know there's some great resources around.
