Today was another battle the heat day, the heat is winning. I made my exodus from the Chicago area, six years ago to Arkansas. I am still learning to deal with the heat. The winters here are great compared to Chicago though. The humidity is less here, makes a little bearable.

Despite the ongoing heat, driving a car with no working a/c it has been a great day.

 

come on down a few hours due South and drive my car with no A/C...

 

I remember when the blower switch went out in my wife's car during winter. You had to hold the switch at a 20 degree angle (wedging/taping it never worked) or there was no heat or more importantly... no de-frost! That wasn't a fun few days before I had the time to tear apart the dash and rig a new switch (in negative temps and blowing snow....). For some reason, I don't feel as warm now.

To put this in context, I took a recording of David Helfgott playing "Flight of the Bumblebee" and slowed it down to around 7 minutes. In order to upload it to youtube, I had to include video, so enjoy my creepiest Dandydog picture.

Wow... I never thought it would sound like that.

 

Yeah, the software I used to stretch it sort of adds echo, I think. When I play it back in 1 to 1, it sounded pretty echoey. I think it's to help hide the stretching which was a pretty obvious clicky sound when I tried it in audacity.

On a completely unrelated note, has anybody seen/tried this? We had a laptop go missing here at work over the Summer, so I'm thinking of installing this for future protection.

 

Yeah, it had kind of a strange sci-fi background music quality to it. I liked it...

Looks interesting. Reminder to self... if I ever get so desperate that I feel the need to steal a computer. Completely wipe the HD and the system and do a complete re-install of different OS. But, that is probably what I would do anyway if I was that shady of a character, which I am not.

 

That was my thought. But then I remembered, that the bulk of people who would steal a computer probably wouldn't bother with wiping it out first, because then they'd need a windows install disk. But yeah, if a techy swipes it, the first thing they'll probably do is power it up, look for useful info and then sweep the drive without ever getting online.

Money clip question... any one here use one? How badly fubared to bills get?

I use one since about 15 years now and can't complain about any bills get "fubared"
